10.21.2019 - The Super Manila Pop Culture event was a resounding success with other things happening around Metro Manila. It was the grandest homecoming for international comicbook artist and Image co-Founder in Whilce Portacio that reunited with his former colleagues from the 55 Balette art team. This was also something special for those looking forward to an annual comicbook fan gathering that has been long-awaited, which is the collaboration between Filbar’s and Comic Odyssey that was considered a last minute event that will be the next big thing for years to come that signifies that comicbooks are relevant.

04.23.2019 – Filbar’s is the oldest comic shop in the Philippines and in the past forty years it has evolved from just a section of a clothing store in Iloilo to a pop culture shop that not only caters into comics. But has become a multiverse of all things that makes nerds go crazy what’s popular in the local scenes such as collectibles, toys, and high end props. Recently, Filbar’s expanded its ever growing store to a new location, which at the newly renovated The Podium mall just at the back of SM Megamall. Since Free Comic Book Day is less than a few days away you might want to get familiarize with this store as one of those shops participating this year.

09.17.2015 – Asia Pop Comicon Manila ‘Media Day’ has a lot of reveals last Tuesday and besides the highlighted guests that surprised the media its also the merchandise that comes with it that where on display that is quite an unveil. 05.03.2014 – For those who want to avoid the huge crowd at The Fort BGC there are other comic shops that will participate in this year’s Free Comic Book Day. Its great timing also that they are also celebrating 35 years as a store that was established in 1979. If you’re familiar with Filbar’s its THAT comic shop who will be celebrating FCBD after being reintroduced with new management sometime in July 2013. This is also their first time to participate to be part of FCBD 2014. Last night preparations have been underway to get ready and welcome new customers at the door.

10.31.2013 – Filbar’s at SM North Edsa has a simple blessing and cutting of the ribbon. This is their third unveiling of their store and second Filbar’s that had a new look. The first one introduced a new-look concept store last July at Festival Mall in Alabang. Under Collecticons Inc. they opened another store which is the first ever Marvel shop known as “Kapow Universe” which can only be found in the Philippines. 10.26.2013 – If you’re anticipating the upcoming screening of Thor: The Dark World to be shown in four days this might be interesting to Filbarbarians. The new store at the SM North Edsa has an exclusive promo. This is a tie-up to the Thor sequel with SM Cinema. If you haven’t visited the shop they have an exclusive offer for you to see the film on the regular day for free. Any fan who would want to see this film should come in their Thor gear. This might also help promote the new store that opened last week.

New Filbar's Shop Opens at SM North Edsa!

10.18.2013 – Filbar’s new branch had a soft opening last Wednesday. This is their second store carrying the new identity and colors under new management from Collecticons Inc. The same group who opened Kapow! Universe last month which is the first ever Marvel store in the Philippines. The newly opened Filbar’s store is located before you can reach the Skydome and you’ll not miss which is beside Manny Pacquiao’s specialty shop. The first thing you’ll see is the Hounds Helmet from the Games of Thrones.

Indieket 2013: Filbar's Unveiled Pop Art Project!

08.11.2013 – Indieket’s one-day event could not be contained with new comics being sold as well as surprising launches exclusive for this event. Upon entering the Bayanihan Center a few tables you’ll see the bright lights on your left side. It was actually Filbar’s booth where they have unveiled a mini-exhibit of Funko Pop Vinyl toys featuring Iron Man as the base figure customized by NINE local artists into their characters that defined their individual creations. It was fully unveiled during the opening of the second annual Indieket which was met with inspirations and enthusiasm.

07.27.2013 – Filbar’s is the oldest comic book store in the Philippines established in 1979. It was first started as magazine store that sell selected comic book titles. Fast forward to the present the store is getting a fresh look under new management. Its first appearance during Summer Komikon 2013 in April was the start of something new. Acquired by a new company all the store branches will have a new look and re-focused towards bringing the hobby in comics, toys, and games to local market.
