Clash of the Champions: DC Heroes VS MOTU!

09.02.2013 – It’s no big secret but if you grew up in the 1980s and have seen He-Man and the Master of the Universe on television chances your familiar with the current iteration of the comic book series as well as the toys that came with it.

MOTU fans have been supporting the toy line since interested started in the early 2000s that produced a new TV series by Mike Young productions that ended quickly similar to the new Thundercats. But the interest never died that DC Comics published a new series.

With the renewed popularity with MOTU comes the toys but since there’s no animated series in the works the comic book is the only medium where you can follow He-Man’s adventure and with DC publishing the books there’s something interesting about pitting the most powerful man in the universe with DC Comics strongest heroes.

It was previously reported that DC Comics has announced a major crossover between the inhabitants of Eternia and Earth’s superheroes. Two storied franchise going head to head is something happened before and this time with renewed creative freedom.

This would be cool if this was also translated to the toys previously Mattel had released two pack set pitting each character from DC and MOTU which was limitedly sold on retail. But the heroes back then where from the old 52 DCU. Let’s not get a hold on dreaming what could happen but anticipate the upcoming comic book series that will be released this month.

If anyone has heard this will be written by Keith Giffen with cover art by Ed Benes and the internal art work will be done by rising comic book artists in Dexter Soy (Captain Marvel, Gambit & Superior Spider-Man) which could be his biggest project to date.

The premise would be an interesting story to delve in the MOTU mythos at the same time crossing over to the New 52…

After narrowly escaping his last battle with He-Man, Skeletor has fled to the most unexpected realm to recover: EARTH! Once there, he sets a plan in motion to siphon off Earth’s core magic. Forging an unlikely hunting party, He-Man and company go in search of Skeletor. Finding themselves at odds with the heroes of the DC Universe, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe must find a way to stop Skeletor and his mysterious new master!
