Nautilus Graphics to release Trip Tagaytay & Cast 12!

07.31.2014 – Komikon Indieket is just a few days away and this is the second event that celebrates 10th year of the Philippine Komiks Convention (Komikon) and there will be new works that will be unveiled. If you missed Summer Komikon last April this is your next stop on the first Saturday of August.

It’s clearly going to be something to look forward to with the gamut of new material and meeting friends in the Philippine comics industry surely this is the right place to spend your weekend.

Nautilus Graphic Visuals is proud to present you new releases of Trip to Tagaytay & Cast 12 with cover by Harvey Tolibao.

The much awaited reprint of Trip Tagaytay that put Arnold Arre on the map in the Philippine comics industry returns with a brand new cover. For those long time followers and new ones who has been hearing about the graphic novel can get their re-released copy of Arnold Arre’s Trip to Tagaytay.

Complete press release details can be read below:

For the first time in over a decade, multi-awarded Arnold Arre, the local comic industry’s golden boy, will be re-printing Trip to Tagaytay under Nautilus Comics. A love story set in the future, Trip was first printed in 2000 and won the Manila Critics Circle National Book Award.

Trip to Tagaytay gives a speculative glimpse of what the Philippines will be like years from now, showing how the country’s unique culture and quirks will mingle with futuristic technology, creating a tomorrow both novel yet also strangely familiar. Yet the story also talks about the timelessness of love and the country’s history, all framed in an electronic love letter between a young couple. Trip is Arre’s most personal work, being basically a 40-page illustrated love letter to his then-girlfriend and now wife, Cynthia.

Another new material that you’ll be seeing at the Nautilus Graphic Visual’s booth at this year’s Komikon Indieket is the latest issue of Cast 12 present with a variant cover by Harvey Tolibao, which was recently released and will be sold also at this event. Plus! You get to have it signed by Harvey himself. More details about Cast 12 can be read below:

Cast 12, the latest installment of the young-adult comic series Cast, has 3 variant covers, which will be available in different stores. Jhomar Soriano’s will be in bookstores (Fully Booked Mall of Asia, Rockwell, Trinoma, North EDSA and Alabang Town Center); Stephen Segovia’s at comic shops; and Harvey Tolibao’s at comic conventions only.

Tolibao, a superstar artist whose work appears in Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men, X-Men Legacy and Avengers, had his beginnings as an assistant artist in Cast when it was just starting out. For Cast 12, Tolibao illustrated a variant cover depicting the story’s shocking revelation.

Written by Jamie Bautista, Cast is a series about the adventures of a barkada in a musical: getting over stage fright and learning the ropes of production, meeting all kinds of people, falling in love with the right—or wrong—person, and all the crazy things that they get into, all for the love of the musical and their friends.

Komikon Indieket happening this Saturday August 2, 2014 and Nautilus Grahic Visuals will have a booth featuring the re-launch of Arnold Arre’s Trip to Tagaytay and the variant cover of Cast 12 featuring the artwork by Harvey Tolibao at at the Bayanihan Center, Pioneer St., Pasig City, from 10 am to 7 pm.
