| 09.24.2018 – Playmobil Action is a theme that depicts adventurous sets from camping, rescue and anything in-between that has the word “Action” next to the brand name. It does appear to be not specific on this theme, but defines more of the "Action" and adventure setting.
Some of this sets has slowly appeared on retail in late 2017, and most of depiction of sets being presented are rescue and adventure scenes. Most of these were set in countrysides, but one basic set doesn't appear in any danger and this is the set number 9129 featuring a Biker and Hiker. |
This is the only basic set from the “Action” theme not to be mistaken with Playmobil’s other theme called “City Action,” which depicts a majority of the sets having a ‘cops & robbers’ and Fire Rescue narrative that have larger playsets like a police station or a small set that depicts a robber running off with his own ATV vehicle. It is not limited to the police theme, but also fire rescue that featured a lot of Fire Fighter sets, figures, and vehicles.
The Biker & Hiker set is also called Mountaineers outside the US market with Playmobil is more popular in Europe and Latin countries having named some of the products to more suit to their language.
Adventurous Biker & Hiker
This set is relatively small that have two Playmobil figures that could have been considered a 2-pack, but instead a part of the “Action” theme. The box product art depicts these two in their hiking and biking adventures that is pretty much explanatory shown in the back of the box that also shows the content.
There’s not much details going on in this set, but based on the product itself a lot of Playmo aficionados would pick this up for the Biker since there’s not much sets or single packs figure that have a bicycle accessory. It would been great if this would have three figures feature with actual adventures, but the Hiker becomes a shoo-in just to be the very basic set for the “Action” theme.
Getting Lost in Action
The set once opened is in a single baggy featuring accessories like a map, two back packs (unassembled consisting of two pieces each), and a dark teal coloured mountain bike not to be confused with previous bicycles. This would be considered a mountain bike rather than just some random bicycle.
Its least favourite is the blond bearded Hiker with his well detailed map and back pack dressed checkered blue shirt in a khaki pants with brown shoes. While the Biker in his dark gray shorts and black jumpers (sweater) with lime green headgear carry a backpack similar to the Hiker.
Upon assembly of the backpacks it is rare for Playmobil to include an extra piece, which turns out to be the orange bag part without the frame/strap piece to form a full bag. But rather, an extra piece in case you lose this particular part of the backpack for the Hiker as the backpack of the Biker is different.
Overall an added Playmo Figure is a good addition to anyone’s collection. But for those who like to convey their own stories through the use of Playmobil figures on their photography whenever they go it is a great companion for their travels. But as a display piece they’re quite an addition to the playset theme for the “Action” sets that does not show any adventures, but a collection that builds up something for those outdoorsy individuals that like some action.
