| 03.03.2019 – Pop Hub MNL is a Mash-Up Event that features Filipino Popular Culture, which is a weekend event happening at the SMX Convention Centre in Pasay City that is part of the bigger event that is happening for the Manila international Bookfair on its fortieth year.

If you thought last year was just a one-off Fandom-Fest you’ll be surprised to know that Pop Hub MNL is back dubbed “POP HUB: Comic Splash X Fandom Fest Vol. 2” this time adding international flavour to the ever growing event.
Just like last year the event has a plethora of activities to the kids and young adults that includes the whole family and the teaser of guests brings you familiar faces and new to the event as their first time to be guests. Pop Hub MNL is sure to be one of the events to look forward to not only for the activities and merchandise but for the talented authors, illustrators, and guests from the local and international comic book scene that will surely inspire you to see them!

Probably the only talent in the group revealed as the major guest in the event is Prince De Guzman who returns from last year’s first Pop Hub MNL. If you haven’t heard of him you might see him through your daily commutes as one of his videos is being played through the LRT 1’s (Light Rail Transit) Tube MNL clips where he was putting make-up with his transformation as X-Men’s Beast. He should not be categorized only as a cosplayer, but also good with make-up close to what the movies does with Hollywood actors portraying these characters.
The new faces from the local and international scene are Damy “Ian” Velasquez III author and co-creator of the continuation of the classic komiks series DI-13, which is The New DI-13. The other is Don Suratos, an illustrator with more than 18 years of experience in visual arts and more than 50 published children’s book, Don has been discovered by a Hollywood film company to execute an alternative movie poster for Stephen King’s Pet Sematary, making him the first Filipino illustrator to work with Paramount Pictures.
