| 07.28.2019 – SpongeBob is taking you beyond Bikini Bottom and that is collaborating with Secret Fresh Gallery that will feature local artists in the Philippines incorporating their art style to the famous character from Nickelodeon with some interesting concepts as part of the character’s 20th Anniversary.
The press launch unveiled a special art toy that the featured artists will work around and will be revealed before the end of 2019. SpongeBob SquarePants gets artsy for his 20th anniversary celebration in the Philippines!
“Every time I see SpongeBob, I can’t help but smile, he’s just so happy and he makes everyone happy too!” says Bigboy Cheng, a huge fan of SpongeBob SquarePants. As a result, he has taken his Secret Fresh Gallery - Manila’s leading art scene innovators - and collaborated with Viacom Nickelodeon Consumer Products to celebrate SpongeBob SquarePants’ 20th Anniversary.
As homage to the optimistic, pineapple-dwelling character, the Secret Fresh team reimagined SpongeBob and friends in fine art paintings, sculptures, art toys and other unique products in exciting shapes and forms.
Secret Fresh will start with a show headlined by Ronald Ventura with his own surrealist take on the beloved Sponge via paintings and poly-stone sculpture sets happening in October.
Next, a powerhouse gathering of artists, including Nemo Aguila, Aiya Balingit, Ronson Culibrina, Egg Fiasco, Doktor Karayom, Tyang Karyel, Tiffany Lafuente, Romeo Lee, John Marin, Pow Marin, Distort Monsters, Epjey Pacheco, JP Pining, Syn, Trip63, Yani Unsana, Clairelynn Uy, Olan Ventura, Bryan Yabut, JJ Zamoranos and DJ Bigboy Cheng, with Heart Evangelista-Escudero rounding up the roster, all of their works will showcase a reimagined 20-inch resin SpongeBob figure in their signature style along with a 2 x 2 canvass painting from each artist. Group show will open in November.
We then celebrate the holidays with Christian Tamondong who will feature paintings and an exclusive porcelain art toy at his solo show on December.
Between these exciting happenings, Secret Fresh Apparel will also launch t-shirts, hoodies, caps, socks and other merchandise all done up SpongeBob style! Dropping also later this year is Secret Fresh’s first ever scent collection – two scents called Barnacle and Coral, Bikini Bottom staples!
As a kick off to this collaboration, Secret Fresh unveils its first offering – featuring SpongeBob and friends reimagined as modern foam furniture made by furniture innovators Sixinch Philippines. This limited run set will be on display at the Secret Fresh Gallery starting 1 August 2019 and will be available for pre-order.
