FCBD 2015: Preparations, Locations & Fun!

04.24.2015 – Free Comic Book Day is less than 10 days and fans have been trooping to this annual pilgrimage wondering where to go to get their free stuff. You’re in luck because there are only a few places to go through to stand in line next Saturday.

The event has been around since 2002 and for those new people who have heard about this through word of mouth should know this is not just about free stuff. But in some places in Asia the word “FREE” is a word never to avoid.

Oddly enough FCBD in the Philippines has been different having the resurgence to promote this annual event started in 2007. But it has been around long before it became the sort of annual pilgrimage participated by a former comic book shop and current exclusive store. Today this is where people would stand in line as early as the day before the event itself. It’s practically becoming a staple to Filipinos when you talk “FREE” there’s going to be long lines.

Going to Camp

If this is your first time to attend FCBD better prepare for some serious camping. Some have become hardcore at lining up they are all prepared like there was a zombie apocalypse waiting to happen. Its going to be a hot place to hang out before the door opens for everyone to get their free wares.

All you need to do when you’re ready for FCBD as follows:

1.) Water, Food, & Extra Shirts
2.) Reading Material to pass the time
3.) List down what your FCBD titles
4.) Be Early

Interact & Experience

You may never know who you might bump into and meet. This is a social event where you get to meet the same people who are going to this year’s FCBD for the first time. This could be a new experience or a re-acquaintance of a former comic book reader who found a new interest in the hobby again.

Besides getting to know people in the line expect cosplayers to be in the area. They might be lining up just like you and it’s interesting to strike a good conversation with them as they are also comic book fans.

Always Prepare to Spend

If you’re only after the "FREE” stuff be always prepared and carry extra cash to spend that you might get something unexpected. These stores have specials or promotional deals that you can’t refuse or a collectible that’s discounted for that day.

This is the one event you might haul in some neat stuff aside from the FREE comics that their giving away and its best to be armed with money to spare.

The Place for Your Pilgrimage

There are only a few stores that will be participating in this year’s Free Comic Book Day spreading out from North to Sound and in-between, which they will simultaneously have their own version of a comic book party.

Its wise to pick and choose which place to go because you can’t be all over the place at the same time. If you want to be in one place make sure this venue will be the right one for you to line up and spend your best Saturday
