Secret Wars #9: The Final Act!

01.15.2016 – Secret Wars #9 is already out now at your nearest comic shop. It’s a fitting end to the original eight-par t maxi-series that rebooted a ‘New Marvel Universe.’ But not everyone is pleased on how this narrative has unfolded and Marvel is aware that they can’t please everyone with how Jonathan Hickman has written.

But if you look at it in a bigger picture it does make sense although you need more proof to be convinced about what happened. Of course criticism is not going to go away as the focus of the story is spotlighted on the characters from Fantastic Four.

Fantastic Four, the film definitely was a debacle everyone wants to forget. But Hickman certainly has written them off these characters quite nicely. The Alex Ross cover is always glorious to see even the slew of variant covers, but Esad Ribic’s art certainly gave life to the action sequence and all that thought revelations of this title that most would not forget and some rather not think about.

Before Marvel’s All-New, All-Different relaunch of titles this is the big one to end all universe-changing stories.

It was a roller coaster ride for long time readers who have hope to see its ending and they definitely gave something that would carry over to the new universe that some of the titles have already shown.

The ninth issue certainly did cap off a furious battle with Black Panther the wielder of that elusive artefact, but spoiler aside it makes you want to think if the royal blooded Wakandan has enough guts to carry such powerful weapon. It’s either him or Namor but you’d root for the Black Panther in this one. There are too many casualties in this mega fight but at the end and once the dust has settled it would come to Doctor Doom and Mister Fantastic taking on each other.

To make this short the end for Secret Wars is a renewed Marvel universe. Some might think why the Fantastic Four being written off is because they still don’t have the movie writes to bring them in the cinematic universe. But that’s another discussion that’s been heavily talked about.

For now this is the turning point for the characters growth and some might not accept the changes, but that’s how it however IF Marvel does get their ‘Fantastic Four’ back in the fold surely their travels to the starts might bring them back to this new world.
