| 10.31.2019 – Ghost Rider has been one of Marvel’s underrated titles, but in the 1990s it had a revival with Danny Ketch as its main star and Johnny Blaze in a supporting role that launched the franchise expanding to other titles with a special event and those where the glory days of the supernatural series that was challenging to emulate in this era where the Avengers and X-Men are the major favorites due to the live-action cinematic treatments.
Ghost Rider had two movies with Nick Cage in the lead roles, and the character was retold in some shape or form in the comicbooks that casual fans were having difficulties to grasp on the who is this walking flaming skull on a bike or even a car. For the longtime fans, this new series could be the breath of fresh hellfire as well as new to the Ghost Rider mythos now that Marvel is reigniting the Spirits of Vengeance with a brand new series featuring not one but two Ghost Riders. Johnny Blaze was the star for every succeeding series for Ghost Rider, but this time around a 1990s revival that will also include Danny Ketch in the lead along with his brother’s new status quo after becoming ‘the King of Hell’, which also introduce a new creative team in Ed Brisson and Arron Kuder! |
When you look back at Ghost Rider as the character it will always resonate with Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch and with the new series it focuses on the two brothers dynamic playing off on their roles about sacrifices and finding their place in the greater Marvel Universe.

The Premise
The Brothers Ghost Rider is back! Johnny Blaze ain't just the king of Hell-he's the warden too. The Review
When you open up the first few pages of this first issue you might get a little lost, but once you’ve to go through the panels and the narrative things will be just getting interesting to know Johnny and Danny.
At the same time, you get an immediate catch up on the characters that revolve around Danny Ketch during the original run of his series. You get to see his struggles wanting to be free from the Spirits of Vengeance and how he wants to settle for a ‘normal’ life that the opposite of how Johnny Blaze is dealing with now that he’s the King of Hell.
It’s fair enough to see both brothers going on the opposite direction of their lives and the more familiar narrative was with Danny Ketch going back to the time he’s trying to deal with becoming Ghost Rider at the same time trying to maintain what’s ‘normal’ owning a bar.
Of course, longtime readers of the series from the 1990s will immediately get to see ‘the woman in their past’ and the outside forces attempting to usurp the thrown from Johnny Blaze. Ed Brisson’s take on the characters is not only nostalgia for those who have known Johnny and Danny, but also inviting new readers to see what Ghost Rider was all about and the ride is heating the hellfire ablaze for the next issue.
Overall Aaron Kuder’s art has upgraded this new series with the characters and the creatures that populated the Ghost Rider mythology. Brisson is certainly bringing the Ghost Rider to the 21st century with his take on the new series and not to forget about the Caretaker back story will give you a new perspective for this guy’s role. Issue two teases going to be fiery action-packed and this one is underrated and a sure hit.
