Timzster Reviews: Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3

*Originally posted in Timzster

When Marvel Vs Capcom 3 exploded onto the console scene this year, it brought back a lot of that old school flair, nostalgia, and appeal fighting game fans were long craving for. Following the path of Street Fighter IV, it swapped two dimensional graphics in favor or a brush art styled 3D graphics engine, whilst retaining classic 2D brawl gameplay so as not to alienate veterans of the series.

Now, a new "upgrade" of the game has finally been released. Called "Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3", new characters, stages, and gameplay additions have been added to this latest entry of the VS series. It pretty much lives up to the reputation Capcom has garnered with its fighting games by rereleasing them with "updated features" and quirks.

Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 revealed at SDCC' 11!

Rumored and expected, Capcom just dropped the bombshell to fighting game fanatics around the world when they officially announced ULTIMATE MARVEL VS CAPCOM 3 at this year's San Diego Comic-Con! An updated version of their previous February release, this new version of MvC3 contains the same graphics with new characters and stages! As featured in EventHubs, new characters joining the fight will be Hawkeye and Ghost Rider for the Marvel side, while MvC fan favorite Strider Hiryu returns and Firebrand from Ghouls and Ghosts joins Capcom's cause! In total, Twelve new characters are expected to appear (with two as DLC apparently), taking the total roster to 50. While that's still shorter than the mega roster featured in Marvel Vs Capcom 2, this is no less exciting news for fans of the franchise! Check out the trailers below, courtesy of You Tube! For more info and details, visit the source post at Event Hubs!

Awesome Fanvid gets Eye of the Tiger to Street Fighter!

This video I caught off Kotaku shows how diverse and beautiful the fighting game circuit can be... and how it'll take a man places as he builds himself up and primes himself for the nasty fight ahead. In this fan video by Geek, this guy in a track suit wanders the streets of Japan to muster up the courage and determination to go over to Shibuya Kaikan Monaco, one of definite arcade's in the world, to prove himself in Street Fighter IV. It's a pretty creative project if you ask me, and the theme they used, a remixed version of Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger", is just awesome to hear. Check it out in the embedded player below.

Man, I do love fighting games. Anything can happen. ANYTHING.

HADOUKEN! Happy 20 Years, Street Fighter II!

OH.MY.GOD... STREET FIGHTER II IS TWENTY YEARS OLD?!

Yes, apparently it is. It's March 2011, and the game came out on March 1991... and now that Capcom-Unity was nice enough to point that out, I have to post down a tribute to celebrate this classic's birthday!

Ok, let me get my bearings and let that thought sink in. It's been two decades... TWO DECADES since this sucker hit arcades, and it literally changed my perception of video games entirely as soon as I laid my hands on it. I not only want to post just to commemorate 20 strong years of Hadoukens, Shoryukens, and Sonic Booms, but I also want to reminisce about how I came to love the experience and thrill of playing fighting games because of this masterpiece... and how it defined me as a gamer altogether until this very day.

Crusader Video Game Review: Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate Of Two Worlds

After much teasing, planning, and a long wait to endure... Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate Of Two Worlds FINALLY arrives in consoles the world over for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 entertainment systems. After 11 years since Marvel Vs Capcom 2 hit arcades and caused a stir, a true sequel has finally been released, and people are definitely playing this one and talking about it. The question however stirring in everyone's mind now though is "Did it meet expectations"? Well, the short answer is a resounding "YES", but we'll get into that a little bit later. I bought the PS3 Collector's Edition version of this game yesterday, and I'm enjoying everything as I write this review. Do take a moment to simmer down, relax, and read this article as cautiously as possible. I've been a fighting game player for most of my life, and what I say in this review serves up only to my opinions regarding the game's performance based on my expectations, nothing more, nothing less. With that, let's take things for a ride and get the show on the road!
