Indieket 2013: Filbar's Unveiled Pop Art Project!

08.11.2013 – Indieket’s one-day event could not be contained with new comics being sold as well as surprising launches exclusive for this event. Upon entering the Bayanihan Center a few tables you’ll see the bright lights on your left side.

It was actually Filbar’s booth where they have unveiled a mini-exhibit of Funko Pop Vinyl toys featuring Iron Man as the base figure customized by NINE local artists into their characters that defined their individual creations. It was fully unveiled during the opening of the second annual Indieket which was met with inspirations and enthusiasm.

The Funko Pop Vinyl toy is the fastest growing brand that’s getting interest inspired by the advent of the vinyl designer toys that was introduced in the early 2000s. Its popularity is breaking the mainstream due to acquired licensing rights to produce the characters from Walt Disney, Marvel, Game of Thrones, and even Big Bang Theory.

Designer Vinyl toys are like blank canvass that the current graffiti and graphic designers customize and re-create them to serve its self-expression.

Filbar’s is pushing that same concept with base figures such as the Iron Man MARK 42 (as seen on the display), War Machine and Iron Patriot mold into something imaginative and creative recreating the standard figure into something new which brings you to the unveiling of the NINE customized figure into characters created by the individual artists.

The featured Funko Pop Vinyl toys are customized by NINE local artists based on their comic book creations. They are Bruho Barbero by Rommel Estanislao, Kalayaan by Gio Paredes, Antonio Stark by Ivan Guerrero (with special participation), Zsazsa Zaturnah by Carlo Vergara, Pasig by Taga-Ilog, Kapitan Tog by Freely Abrigo, Ambush by Andrew Villar, Westside by Ariel Atienza, Codename: Bathala by Jon Zamar, and >Beerkada by Lyndon Gregorio.

Besides the unveiling by the local comic book creators with their own version of the armored avenger, Filbar’s is also launching a contest for those budding artists and for those who want to try their hand in making their own creation using the Iron Man as the base figure to come up with an original concept.

The contest registration has started during Indieket and as reported there were two people who already signed up and purchased their Funko Pop Vinyl Iron Man. For those planning to join the contest the figure will be sold in a special price at PhP 400.00 pesos since you will be spending on paint and other things to accessorize your figure.

Filbar’s is letting you know how they value your creativity and imagination. So they are giving a special discount on the Funko Pop Vinyl Iron Man from its original retail at PhP 495.00 pesos.
