Super Manila 2019 | Preview Sightings

10.18.2019 – The weekend is ready and set for Super Manila the debut of a new event in collaboration with Comic Odyssey and Filbar’s bringing an artist-centric event that will be graced by Whilce Portacio and Leinil Francis Yu that also feature local artists who worked with foreign publishers that also produced their works.

Today was the first day as there’s not much scheduled activities, but in case you haven’t had thought of any plans for the weekend this might be the place to bring your friends and family meeting your favourite illustrators as this preview to give you an idea what’s inside the debut year for this event…

09.22.2019 – There is something good about being a comicbook fan and there’s something great about being part of the community that invites common interest and at the same time build relationships not only with fellow readers.

But also the local comic shops that bring these exciting titles to their shelves.

And then there’s SuperManila that is something shaping up to be the next best thing to promote not only the writers and artists that are based in the Philippines representing the international scene.

Funko Pop! Disney | Steamboat Willie

11.18.2016 – “Steamboat Willie” was a classic animation by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. It’s Mickey and Minnie Mouse’s debut on November 18, 1928. The black & white animated short was produced by Walt Disney Studios

This was the first cartoon not only introduces Mickey Mouse for the first time it was the very first Disney cartoon with synchronized sound. The cartoon is iconic that Funko produced “Steamboat Willie” is one of the first Pop Vinyl figures.

Funko POP! Marvel | Howard the Duck

08.04.2016 – Funko’s POP! line of vinyl figurines continue to expand with its license properties from animation, movies, videogames, and even those created for visual artist with their original creations that capture everyone’s attention.

It is a lucrative and popular brand for Funko that also have the rights to produce characters for Marvel, but the difference from the standard vinyl figurine they have their version do the ‘bobble’ and one of them is the famous Howard the Duck.

Funko Pop! TV | Sharknado

06.27.2016 – Today begins a week-long special program for “Shark Week” on Discovery Channel that became popular since its first program went on-air on July 17, 1988. Originally an annual special devoted to conservation efforts and correcting misconceptions about sharks.

To promote the beginning of Shark Week here’s a closer look at Funko Pop TV’s Sharknado, which is based from the B-Movie that spawned sequels and the time that you’ll never get your life back seeing it other than that this art toy looks good…

Funko POP! Disney Pixar | Crush

06.11.2016 – “Finding Dory” is heading to cinemas this coming week and most of the characters from “Finding Nemo” are making a return to a new adventure featuring the forgetful Blue Tang who will be the center of the narrative.

But before you dive in and also meet Dory’s new friends here is one character that certainly stood out in “Finding Nemo”, and that is Crush the Sea Turtle first met by Marlin & Dory on the way to Australia where Nemo was taken in the original film.

Funko Weekend at Tiendesitas!



When the Funko toys first came out, I thought that they looked cute but I didn't immediately jump on it. Fortunately or unfortunately my cousin was starting his own collection and it was growing and growing and growing and of course I saw all of his posts on Instagram and Facebook and slowly I think I wanted to start collecting, then last Christmas my cousin got me a Daenerys Targaryen Funko (Number 25) and well she looked so lonely up on the shelf I thought that getting her a little company would be alright :p

Batman Day: The Dark Knight Collection!

07.27.2014 – Batman Day celebrating seventy five years of the Dark Knight was grand for DC Comics’ iconic figure. Bat fans lined up to get their free Batman comics a re-issue of Detective Comics #27, which was his very first appearance.

The event featured local artists and people from all walks of life dressed up to celebrate the cape crusader. There is also an exhibit of Batman collections mostly dominated by the ones owned by Anna Gajudo a big fan of the character. There you’ll see her collection from all things Batman and his friends that were on exhibit.

Enough Said! Funko Pop Sharknado!

06.06.2014 – If you’re a fan of B-movies or just happens come across something while surfing the net. There’s a chance that you’ve seen or heard the movie Sharknado.

It’s actually two words Shark + Tornado a marriage that became a cult favorite.

Some would say it’s just some random made for television film, but overall it spawned some interest to those who are into the not-so mainstream kind of things.

For those who are in the dark about how popular Sharknado has become you might have heard it had merchandise.

Indieket 2013: Filbar's Unveiled Pop Art Project!

08.11.2013 – Indieket’s one-day event could not be contained with new comics being sold as well as surprising launches exclusive for this event. Upon entering the Bayanihan Center a few tables you’ll see the bright lights on your left side.

It was actually Filbar’s booth where they have unveiled a mini-exhibit of Funko Pop Vinyl toys featuring Iron Man as the base figure customized by NINE local artists into their characters that defined their individual creations. It was fully unveiled during the opening of the second annual Indieket which was met with inspirations and enthusiasm.
