| 07.18.2016 – If the excitement for Rogue One has not worn you down, the panel for Star Wars Rebels is worth the look on what is going to happen for its third season. The series enters its third year of the five year storyline prior to “A New Hope.”
The events from the second season carry over what happened to the characters mostly to Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, and Ahsoka Tano. This also includes the Ghost crew with the rebel alliance as they continue to expand with a new enemy. |
Its worth nothing that Star Wars Rebels is also highly anticipated for its well crafted story arc surrounding force sensitive turned young Padawan Ezra Bridger and the now blinded Kanan Jarrus. There’s more to look forward to in the third season as they reveal their version of the sizzle reel, but this one is a preview of what’s going to happen and things are getting darker than you thought.
Enter: Grand Admiral Thrawn
Created by Timothy Zahn first introduced in the ‘Thrawn Trilogy’ novels in ‘Heir to the Empire’ before the expanded universe was rebooted after Walt Disney acquired Lucasfilms in 2012. Now he gets re-introduced in Star Wars Rebels third season as its main antagonist and Zahn will also produce a book in 2017 to reveal the characters origin. This is the first time a character from the former expanded universe gets reintroduced as the main villain for the Ghost crew.
This character has been the main baddie after the fall of the Empire in that former universe. Grand Admiral Thrawn is well known to Star Wars fans since all three books that were reprinted as an omnibus that became ‘Thrawn Trilogy.’
The Dark Path Lies Ahead
Now Grand Admiral Thrawn is the ready to take down the motley crew of the Ghost for the third season at the same time continue the story arcs of each character. Star Wars Rebels gets darker as Ezra Bridger explores further with the Sith Holocron at the same time Kana Jarrus dealing with the events from previous season losing his sight.
The third season won’t be aired until two-part hour long special is released on September 24, 2016 as the beginning on Disney XD.
