| 02.09.2019 – McDonald’s latest toys for February 2019 is from The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, which is ahead of the film's release date that has been rumored as the next toys for the Philippines.
The upcoming sequel to the 2014 hit brings back your favourite characters Emmet, Wyldstyle, Unikitty, Benny the Spaceman, and Batman. The sighting of these new toys has been the news for the past few weeks in other countries revealing more than just eight characters that are set to be available for the Asian region. There’s already reviews found on YouTube revealing the toys. |
This morning in one of the local stores in the Philippines, the latest Happy Meal toys has already been displayed and available for every purchase you get one toy to take home. The new toys for this month take the same concept with the Adventure Time toys that were released also in Asia in early 2018.
Previous tie-up with Happy Meal that introduced The LEGO Movie has eight motion drinking cups that featured the original characters. For 2019, they brought back five as mentioned above and added three new one that have Superman, Wonder Woman, and Duplo Alien.
The toys that are not available for Southeast Asian release those are available in North America (America/Canada), Europe and other regions that include Malaysia are Duplo Alien II, Ultrakitty, Metal Beard, Rex Dangervest, and Mayhem. These characters can only be acquired through countries and region not in Asia and Oceania (Australia / New Zealand) has not yet revealed which characters they’ll be having before the movie’s release on 28 March 2019.
If you add the five exclusives to the current eight you have thirteen, which some local collectors in the Philippines are hoping that they’ll get the rest. But for anyone who has been into in to completing these toys do keep in mind that some of these characters are exclusives to a specific country. Don’t expect McDonald’s Philippines to bring the other toys as some collectors would ignore that these toys are licensed properties tie-up to the movie as a one-time only release. The least likely favorite here would be Benny the Spaceman and Duplo Alien being that most fans that have seen the original animated feature would get Emmet, Wyldstyle, Batman, and Unikitty. Now, with the addition of Superman and Wonder Woman expect these to be sold out immediately.
Each character feature a game or a puzzle, but with Benny, when you open up his head there’s plastic pieces, paper, and a pencil for you to create the main characters from the film. All you need is place the paper over the plastic flat plates and shared them to reveal Emmet or Wyldtyle. The Duplo Alien is a mini game to Tic-Tac-Toe featuring Emmet and Wyldstyle.
They might not me actual LEGOs but they’re far better gimmick than just holographic cups from the 2014 film. But most would gravitate to picking up the DC Comics characters and then the main cast as second priority. What are you waiting for?
