Sunday Toy Bazaar | What You Missed

02.25.2019 – It was late past 6 PM you walk along an unknown street of Makati then suddenly you stumbled upon a place that you may consider a “Hole in the Wall” type of pop up marketplace. Then you enter and there were memories of your lost childhood that floods your memories. Or if you just some random person you just happen to end up in a Toy Bazaar.”

Yes, that Toy Bazaar that slowly picking up a little attention when they started occupying that small section of Arkipelago, a local place that had lots of food establishments and unknown Filipino bands playing late wee hours of the night.

For this Sunday you might not have missed it, but here are some interesting things that they had that day. It is actually a novelty and quite a risk to put up a small pop up gathering about collectible items in the heart of a city such as in Makati. Most people won’t even know there is such a gathering for this type of community that is into toys and other interesting things.

It is something not a “normal” social interaction that is now being done through social media. But there’s nothing like having a meet-up with a couple your mates who are into toys. The hobby culture in the Philippines has become more of a consumer driven society than what was really just sharing each interest through toy collecting. But this handful of sellers are trying to bring that nostalgic vibe about meeting new people and possible potentially building back what the hobby used to be in this small space in a very large community.

There are some eye catching finds yesterday and it is quite a treat that they stayed longer than the usual 11 AM to 6PM gathering that is something to appreciate to know they are re4ally pushing back on making this a weekly things so in case you haven’t been to this place here are some few images of what they were selling below:

There are figurines and even old McDonald’s Happy Meal toys sprawled on the table. You’ll be surprised to see old Kenner produced Batman: The Animated action figures and those cool Marvel action figures by Toy Biz from the 1990s all wrapped in protective plastic still mint on card. If you’re going crazy wanting to know if this is just but your imagination it’s actually real.

Did you just saw the Double Dragon vehicles based on the classic cartoon? Yes, one seller have it even the Men in Black vehicle from that forgotten animated series that was used to be aired on HBO. Don’t you just want to see this place so bad that it’s only Monday? Well you’re in luck that they’re always going to be at Arkipelago this Sunday.

Bring your friends or drop by when you can and find them in this map HERE!
