11.02.2013 – The most talk about Filipino independent film is Blue Bustamante a drama-comedy directed that Miko Livelo, which stars Joem Bascon as Goerge Bustamante as a OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) who lost his job and gained a new one as a suit actor.
Not just some suit actor George Bustamante plays a double for the Japanese Sentai show in Force Five a TV show. |
He portrays the suit actor for Blue Force one of the five members of the Force Five Team. What’s so cool about this movie is not related to the Sentai show but the character in George Bustamante. It’s rare to produce merchandise that ties-up to the film most especially made in the Philippines. The last merchandise or collectible doesn’t have quality to merit it to be that good unlike any American or Japanese released.
In the case of Blue Bustamante they just released a prototype of what could be its FIRST EVER collectible. It’s still in the process of production but it looks interesting for some independent film to have its own collectible.
Miko Livelo is not just your usual director he’s a toy collector too having some of the interesting toys that you don’t see in the mainstream. Besides being a fan of the old Sentai shows in the late 80s and 90s it’s no surprise Miko has this big idea to make the film not only interesting but memorable for its growing cult following even the film made it to the big screen.
The Blue Bustamante figure is made in the Philippines by INS (Imagine Nation Studios). The company started in 2008 and they have been known to produce rare designer toys that you might have come across in previous art galleries and conventions.
Blue Bustamante will be shown during the Cinema One Originals Film Festival 2013 from November 11 to 19, 2013 in Trionoma, Glorietta, and Robinsons Galleria Cinemas. The film also stars Dimples Romana, Jhiz Deocareza and Jun Sabayton as Roger Grace.
