Looper - Movie Review!

LOOPER

Director:Rian Johnson
Cast:Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt
Genre:Action, Thriller
Run Time:118 mins
Opens:11 October 2012

Looper - ReviewThere’s no doubt about it: time travel has been something that’s fascinated the public consciousness for quite a while now. From H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine to Back to the Future to The Time-Traveller’s Wife, it seems authors and filmmakers have tapped into mankind’s almost primal desire to transcend the boundaries of time. It could be compared to mankind’s almost primal desire to fly. But while we’ve kinda achieved flight by way of heavier-than-air flying machines, time travel is still something that is quite elusive, to say the least.

Writer-director Rian Johnson’s film Looper offers an interesting twist on things: the ‘Loopers’ of the title are specialised assassins who take care of the trash of the future, by executing those sent back in time by criminal syndicates for a clean, untraceable disposal. Joe (Gordon-Levitt) is one such Looper, living the high life  working his fairly uncomplicated job. However, every Looper must eventually ‘close the loop’ – i.e. kill the future version of themselves sent back in time, effectively tying up any loose ends for the crime syndicates. However, Joe’s future self (Willis) won’t go out without a fight, and evades execution. The younger Joe seeks refuge at a farm owned by redneck single mother Sara (Blunt), and just as he figures out how to deal with future-Joe, future-Joe sees the opportunity to right a few wrongs now that he’s in the past, and both must confront each other - even if it means tearing apart the fabric of time itself.

Press release confirms JGL and Marion Cotillard's roles in "The Dark Knight Rises"!

After months of speculation, second guesses, and wild assumptions of whether or not Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard were going to appear in Christopher Nolan's next Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises", Warner Bros. has finally released an official press, which was also posted in movie news blog sites like Slash Film, that confirms both Inception stars' appearance in the film, once again working together with Nolan as he starts work on the next saga that chronicles Bruce Wayne's one man war against crime.

However, the press release also debunks longstanding rumors that JGL was going to play Alberto Falcone and Marion Cotillard was Talia Al Ghul. Instead, Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City Beat Cop assigned to special duty under the command of Police Commissioner James Gordon (played by Gary Oldman), while Cotillard plays Miranda Tate, a board member of Wayne Enterprises who is eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne (played by Christian Bale) resume his father's philanthropic activities for Gotham City. Filming for the new sequel is expected to begin next month, so adding these two together with fellow Inception star Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, and the rest of the returning Batman cast, and you've got one heck of a Bat-sequel to look forward to. For more info, read the official press release via the source post at Slash Film.

The Dark Knight Rises will be released on theaters on July 20, 2012!

Juno Temple is cast in The Dark Knight Rises!

As reported by movie sites like Screen Rant and following Joseph Gordon-Levitt's addition to the cast of The Dark Knight Rises (though no role has been specified yet), Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan have officially signed in another young talent into the film, in the form of English actress Juno Temple! Like JGL, her role hasn't been specified, but rumors have been fueling around in the interwebz that she may land the part of playing a female sidekick to someone. A lot of hands point to Selina Kyle's (Anne Hathaway) partner and one-time Catwoman replacement in the comics, Holly Robinson!

If you can see where this is leading, then you'd know I'm all in favor of that role landing in Ms. Temple's lap. It's realistic and it makes more sense that Holly will be in the film, seeing as she appeared for the first time working as a prostitue alongside Selina in Batman: Year One, and Nolan draws heavy inspiration from that source material as well as other classic Bat-books. So if Juno Temple plays Holly, I'm going to be very interested in seeing how she helps Hathaway's Selina Kyle in the path to becoming the feline rogue/ adversary/ love interest of Christian Bale's Batman/ Bruce Wayne. We'll just have to wait and see for official confirmation, so for additional reading, you can visit the source post over at Screen Rant!

JGL is NOT Alberto Falcone in The Dark Knight Rises?

Confusing as it may sound, it seems that the rumor/ news that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is Alberto Falcone in The Dark Knight Rises may not hold up some water due to some conflicting reports. On one hand, you got Variety reporting that he is playing the son of Carmine Falcone, and on the other you got Entertainment Weekly debunking that report and saying that JGL will be in the movie, but not as Falcone. As movie blog news site Slash Film points out, both sources are reliable, and the reports could be different information leaking out to confuse different parties about what exactly is the scoop on TDKR, whom director Christopher Nolan and his team keep under a strict veil of secrecy. In any case, what IS confirmed is tha JGL is in the film. It just can't be confirmed at this point what role he'll be officially playing... yet. For more info on the story, visit Slash Film, EW, and Variety.

The Dark Knight Rises will premiere in theaters on July 20, 2012.

JGL is Alberto Falcone in The Dark Knight Rises!

This has been long rumored and speculated about before, but according to a report from Variety and followed up by a post in Newsarama, it can now be officially confirmed that actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt will appear in Christopher Nolan's next bat-flick The Dark Knight Rises; playing the part of Alberto Falcone, son of Carmine Falcone (played by veteran actor Tom Wilkinson and last seen in Batman Begins) and heir of the leader of the Falcone Crime Family. With the news official since last Friday, JGL reunites with Nolan, who directed him in Inception, and his fellow co-star in the film Tom Hardy, who will play Bane in the new Batman movie. I did state in my previous post a month before that this role was tailor-made to fit for JGL, who has the build and look to fit the role of Alberto, who was also known as The Holiday Killer in the pages of Batman: The Long Halloween. Nolan has a knack of drawing inspiration from classic Batman stories and creating script that's just A-list material in his bat-films, not to mention his choice of top class actors that only reassures us fans that we'll be getting a great product come 2012! Joseph Gordon-Levitt rumored to play Alberto Falcone in The Dark Knight Rises?!

This definitely needs to happen, and I do hope this is true!

Take this with a grain of salt for now, but based on a rumor that started over at Comic Book Movie and was eventually reported in Slash Film, it appears that Joseph Gordon-Levitt may have landed a role in Christopher Nolan's next Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises... and it may be a substantial one at that! According to the news, he may take on the role of Alberto Falcone, the son of mob boss Carmine Falcone, the leader of the Falcone Crime Family who was last seen in Batman Begins and played by veteran actor Tom Wilkinson. Anyone who knows their Batman stories knows that this would make perfect sense and is definitely the role that would make JGL's place in the Nolan Batverse perfect, since Alberto plays a major role in the classic comic book storyline Batman: The Long Halloween, which Christopher Nolan takes great inspiration from for his Batman movies. The fact of the matter is that JGL has the build and look to play this role, and if proven true, it will jive well with the serious tone Nolan has placed in his Batman movies so far. Not only that, it will make sense why Anne Hathaway was cast as Selina Kyle/ Catwoman. Her character has "personal business" and ties to the entire Falcone family, so it will pay tribute to the Jeph Loeb/ Tim Sale Batman and Catwoman stories in a big way. Take note, this is still a RUMOR, so there's no confirmation yet... but we'll probably know the real deal as the months trickle down to the film's shooting date! The Dark Knight Rises Update: JGL joining in as well?

Deadline as well as Newsarama have reported that actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt is close to sealing a deal and re-team with his Inception director Christopher Nolan in The Dark Knight Rises. The actor who played Leonardo DiCaprio's "Point Man" Arthur in the 2010 dream-bending action film is in talks with Nolan to play a part in the third Batman movie, but his role is still unspecified as of this point. Months ago, he was rumored to be The Riddler, as well as a potential replacement for the late Heath Ledger's role as The Joker from The Dark Knight. All of those whispers proved false however, but now it can be confirmed that JGL may be cast in Nolan's new Bat-flick. We'll just have to wait and see how this goes, but it will also reunite the actor with Tom Hardy, who also co-starred in Inception as Eames and will be playing Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. Movie Review: Inception

Yo Guys! Timzster here to share a review from my blog of one of the hottest and most anticipated movies of this year - INCEPTION!

"Your Mind Is The Scene Of The Crime..."

Movie: InceptionThat tagline echoed deep within the recesses of my own head whenever I thought of Inception – Christopher Nolan’s next film project after his epic Batman movie sequel that was “The Dark Knight”. In all fairness, I’ll be the first to admit that the ideas that the British director presents to the Hollywood table sound totally wild and daring, but he has a certain kind of air about him that makes you, the viewer, believe that he can make the impossible possible, and since my introduction to his directing style and work with the film “Memento”, I’ve been a big Chris Nolan believer and fan through and through. My faith in the man only increased when he was commissioned by Warner Bros. to do the Batman reboot, and we all know how that turned out.
Pretty much the rest was history after his stint there, and Chris has been on a role lately. With Inception officially launching in theaters by the end of this week, there’s no doubt in my mind people are going to be talking about this movie left and right. How do I know this? I’ve seen it of course!
