Originally conceived to be two movies - "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" and "The Hobbit: There And Back Again", Peter Jackson has finally gotten his wish, as the famed The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy director, MGM, and Warner Bros. are working out details to commission a THIRD movie for the prequel story to the LOTR saga!

The Dark Knight Rises: Whatever Happened To The Joker?
For those who have seen or have yet to see The Dark Knight Rises, it's a given by the synopsis alone that the film takes place eight years after the events of The Dark Knight. The Joker, played and immortalized by the late Heath Ledger, was understandably missing because of the Australian actor's passing and director Christopher Nolan choosing not to incorporate the character to honor Ledger's memory. However, the novelization of TDKR briefly mentions the criminal mastermind, and a fan has taken the liberty of creating a storyboard sequence where we find out one interpretation of what exactly happened to the so called Clown Prince of Crime.

Christopher Lloyd reprises his role as Doc Brown in... an Argentinian viral video?!
GREAT SCOTT! I actually thought this was bogus, but as reported in Slash Film, it's true and it's very real!
Yes, you saw that! Legendary actor Christopher Lloyd participated in an Argentina advertisement and reprised his role as eccentric genius Dr. Emmet Brown from the"Back to the Future"movies! It's a strange advertisement that still has people buzzing as to the true nature of the ad, but the Doc rides and crashes his legendary DeLorean time machine into a Gambarino electronics superstore, so it could probably be a promotion for the shop as well. Look at the viral video below and judge for yourselves!

Can you believe that?! The Doc rides the Time Machine again, complete with style and effects! This could be a small time thing, but it certainly evokes a lot of nostalgia and pleasant BTTF geekgasm right there! Also, check out this unofficial behind the scenes clip also posted up in You Tube!

Man of Steel Official Synopsis released!
Warner Bros. has released the official synopsis for Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot, which is entitled "Man of Steel". The film is currently underway and casting calls have been given out in locations in Vancouver Island. Here's the official synopsis below:
“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark

From the way it reads out and as noticed by many who share like minded views, the plot sounds awfully like the recently concluded Smallville TV series, which explored Clark Kent's early beginnings and eventual transformation into the heroic icon known as Superman (though that 10 long seasons to fill out, and much of the things depicted there looked more alternate universe-like than actual canon). It'll still be almost a good two years before we see this film in theaters, but it will be interesting nonetheless to see what Zack Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan do with this iteration of the Man of Steel, especially with the notable casting decisions made (particularly Perry White being played by Laurence Fishburne). For more on the story, visit the source posts at Slash Film and Screen Rant.
Man of Steel will soar into theaters come June 14, 2013.

Frank Darabont steps down as showrunner for The Walking Dead
Via Deadline, Slash Film, and Enewsi, Frank Darabont, the executive producer, director, and creator of AMC's TV Adaptation of Robert Kirkman's "The Walking Dead", is stepping down and giving up his position as showrunner of the series. Having just appeared at the show's panel presentation at this past weekend's San Diego Comic-Con, this comes as big and surprising news to fans, since Darabont was the lead figure responsible for tackling and directing creative duties in the first season. With the second season slated to debut on October 16, his departure will not affect the schedule, but it may promote his number 2 man, Glen Mazzara of "The Shield" fame, to the top man position. How this will affect the future of the show remains to be seen, but it's sad to see a well known creative face taking a back seat at the cusp of what is already considered a great TV series. For more info on the story, visit the source post at Enewsi, Slash Film, or Deadline!

SDCC '11: First look photos from Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance
Via Slash Film, Empire magazine now has some photos in their latest issue of the new Ghost Rider sequel entitled "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" (scans courtesy of The Film Stage). Once again starring starring Nicholas Cage in the titular role and as Johnny Blaze, the sequel takes place in Eastern Europe, where Blaze has relocated to in order to repress his curse. Unfortunately, he has no choice but to return to action when a sect recruits him to take on the devil, who wants to take over his son's body on the kid's own birthday. That pretty much sums up the plot of the next movie, and so far fans are actually warming up to the idea of this film seeing a release. The bike and other props were shown off in the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con, so feedback has been positive so far. For more updates and photos on the story, visit the source post at Slash Film!

Another new Captain: America: The First Avenger poster revealed!

With literally just a week or so to go before its release in theaters, Marvel Entertainment and Paramount Pictures have unleashed yet another theatrical poster for their next superhero flick this summer, Captain America: The First Avenger! First debuting in HitFix then making its way through a post in Slash Film, this new one-sheet, a full figure of Chris Evans as Cap(sans mask) stands tall and proud right smack in the middle, with the rest of the supporting cast behind him (Bucky, Peggy Carter, and the Howling Commandos) and the Red Skull's face covered in shadow and looming just in front of the American flag plastered in the background. Also, Evans can be seen with his mask/ helmet on while riding the Harley-Davidson motorbike to the right most side of the sheet.
Arguably, this poster takes the cake among the new ones I've seen recently. It does follows very much in the style of its predecessors Iron Man and Thor, with the main character square in the center and the rest of the stars pictured in the background. One has to imagine how much of an impact this film will make upon it's release, and with the recently relaunched Captain America #1 comic book by Ed Brubaker and Steve McNiven now out in shops this week (and a pretty damn good read too I might add), Cap hype is definitely up in the air. This will all escalate even further with the appearance of The Avengers cast in next week's San Diego Comic-Con, where Evans joins his co-stars to promote what will definitely be the biggest superhero movie of 2012 next to The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises! For more info on the new Cap poster, visit the source posts at HitFix and Slash Film!

The Dark Knight Rises Update: Vehicles sighted! The Tumblr returns!
It appears that some scoopers hot on the trail of shooting locations for Christopher Nolan's next Bat-flick "The Dark Knight Rises" have struck gold in their findings, and via Superherohype, we get our first look at the vehicles set to appear in the next sequel. In addition to a SWAT vehicle for the Gotham City Police Department, Batman's own arsenal of vehicles we captured being loaded to the set, and besides a covered up Batpod being spotted, it appears that the Dark Knight's original ride, The Tumbler, has returned!

That's right folks, your eyes don't deceive you! The Batmobile will be making its presence known yet again in the third Batfilm, but wasn't it destroyed and converted in the Batpod in The Dark Knight back in 2008? The answer is both yes and no. If you remember the scene in Batman Begins where Bruce Wayne and Lucius Fox tested out a non-black colored Tumbler, Mr. Fox did mention that "two" were made to serve as bridging vehicles for combat and military application purposes. With the first car destroyed, it only makes sense for Bruce to go and get the other one. After all, that was one sweet and massive ride to begin with, hehe. For more info, check out the source posts at Superherohype and Slash Film!

Contagion unleashes a terrifying trailer!

Warner Bros. has a lot of good films rolling out this fall, and one of them happens to be a movie that touches on a subject that is as real as it is scary. This September, Warner Bros. unleashes "Contagion", an action-thriller that focuses on the outbreak of a deadly virus and the threat it presents worldwide, with humanity responding to it
Directed by the man who gave us Erin Brockovich and the Ocean's trilogy of movies, Steven Soderbergh leads an all-star cast in the forms of Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard, and Gwyneth Paltrow, and the delivery in the trailer by the stars alone lands quite a punch for those into suspense films with realistic tension in the air. Check out below via the embedded player.
Much like any virus-themed movie (Outbreak, 28 Days Later), this one looks like it'll keep everyone on edge on what's going to happen next. Heck, the movie's not even out yet, and one major star is already killed off in this trailer! Can't wait for this one, so stay tuned for this after all the summer blockbusters have come and gone. For more info, visit the source post over at Slash Film!
Contagion causes widespread fear and panic in theaters come September 9!

The Dark Knight Rises Update: Trailer description appears online.
I've seen the advanced screening premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II yesterday (and I must say as a non-fan of the franchise, it was quite a good film to wrap the series up neatly). Unfortunately, no trailers were shown and I have yet to see the teaser to Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan's next and final Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. However, interesting news popped up in the woodwork these past few hours, as reports from Cinema Blend, Slash Film, and Bleeding Cool lead to suggest that said teaser trailer HAS BEEN SHOWN elsewhere in the world, specifically in a theater in Britain when it WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE SHOWN yet.
What you see above is a screen capture of said trailer, which played somewhere in the UK. This was featured in CinemaBlend and it also includes a brief description of what to expect from the trailer, which you can see below and is as quoted from the source article in CinemaBlend. Remember, this is possible SPOILER MATERIAL, so read at your own risk!"Gary Oldman voiceover, talking about how they needed him, then he had to disappear. Footage of Bruce Wayne walking up the mountain from Batman Begins, and surrounded by bats from Batman Begins. This is intercut with Gary Oldman looking like he is dying in a hospital bed, talking to what seems to be Bruce Wayne ion the foreground. Footage of the batpod driving away from the camera from TDK. Then it goes black, and Tom Hardy as Bane in his mask appears for a moment, then disappears. Logo in a crumbling skyline, as in the poster, then the film name, then a shot of a worn out Batman about to fight Bane in the foreground."
From the way this sounds and how everything seems to corroborate this, it looks like this is the real deal we'll be getting once this teaser makes the rounds in selected screenings and officially pops up online. Christopher Nolan is ready to bring his version of Batman full circle. Now all we can do is wait until it hits theaters next year! For more info and details, visit CinemaBlend, Slash Film, or Bleeding Cool!

The Dark Knight Rises Update: Teaser Poster revealed.
As speculated and now making its way through several movie news sites like Slash Film, Warner Bros. and Christopher Nolan have unleashed the first teaser poster for the next Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises". As you can see above, that's pretty much what it is: A teaser depicted in very twisted manner where the perspective comes from a viewer looking towards towering buildings and sees falling debris raining down, with the image of Nolan's Batman logo at the center and making up the sky. Now how to interpret what this teaser means, I'm not sure, but Slash Film points out that it may represent Gotham beings destroyed and Batman's eventual rise back into the hero city needs. We won't know the gist of it until more information and trailers revealing details pop in, and speculation by fans is the only source at this point. The official website has also been updated to reflect this new poster's debut, but the teaser trailer hasn't come out yet, and it's rumored to debut this week as well alongside screenings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (Update: Initial reports say it hasn't in certain premieres, but you never know for subsequent screenings). The runtime is also said to be 1:26, and that's been reported by www.albertafilmratings.ca. Be sure to stay tuned for its eventual debut online. For more info on this story, visit the source post at Slash Film.

William Shatner prepares to meet "The Captains"!
This news is a couple of days old, but being the Star Trek fan that I am, I'm reposting it to spread the word and for others to know about.
The Captains will premiere on July 21st on EPIX HD cable channel. For more info, visit the source post at Slash Film!
Via Slash Film, William Shatner has a new documentary film coming entitled "The Captains", which will follow the legendary actor as he travels the world to connect with each of the actors and actress who have played a Captain in the long running Star Trek franchise, which include Star Trek: The Next Generation's Jean-Luc Picard played by Patrick Stewart, Kate Mulgrew's Captain Janeway from Star Trek: Voyager, and even young actor Chris Pine, who played a younger version of Shatner's infamous role of Captain James T. Kirk in the 2009 Star Trek reboot film! On the subject of meeting the later, Shat actually released a teaser pic of him armwrestling Chris Pine , and here it is below!
Now, here's the trailer for the upcoming documentary. Look beyond and see Starfleet captains meet!

Legal troubles threaten to divide Superman franchise...

This is both old and new news to hear about, and it will certainly affect the future of Superman in a big way.
As was reported by Variety, Slash Film, and Screen Rant, the ongoing legal battle between DC Comics and the estates of Superman's creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, may reach a point where both parties may have to split and retain certain rights and key elements to the character. What that basically means is that if things do not work out and both parties do not mutually agree to something, we may see the division of Superman entirely. He won't be wearing the iconic red, blue, and yellow costume everyone knew and grew up with due to copyright issues, and his origins may have to be changed somewhat, at least in the case of DC Universe that is. The phrase "Leaping Tall Buildings In A Single Bound" was coined by the creators, so that will go along with the costume baggage should a separation take place.
In essence, if all of this comes to pass where the respective rights revert back to their creators in 2013 (a year after Zack Snyder's Superman movie "Man of Steel" shows) we may see the birth of two distinctly different versions of "Superman". The Siegel and Shuster's estates own pretty much what makes up the original Superman when he debuted in the pages of Action Comics in 1938. DC still owns international rights, flying, and the villains attached to the character, so there may not be any obvious changes for the modern incarnation at least. However, anything new conjured up will set up grounds for another case again, and it limits both parties from exploring the alter ego of Kal-El/ Clark Kent in many other ways. For more on the story, you can visit Variety, Slash Film, or Screen Rant!
