Vanilla Ice Does "Ninja Rap" on TMNT Screening!

05.23.2016 - The 1990s has been good and sometimes awkwardly strange era. But for Vanilla Ice it was one of the highlights of his music career having top the charts with his “Ice Ice Baby” and being tapped to record a single for the original TMNT film.

The TMNT sequel "Secret of the Ooze" gave birth to the song “Ninja Rap,” which became the theme song, which became one of hits and he had a revival in 2014 with the Kraft TV commercial.

'Frequency' Remake First Look Trailer!

05.22.2016 – ‘Frequency’ is one of the upcoming shows on The CW Network inspired by the 2000 Gregory Hoblit film. CBS Teases the New MacGyver!

05.19.2016 – “MacGyver” is one of the shows revealed to be part of the CBS television line-up of show for the 2016-2017 Season. It was reported previously that the show will be a re-imagined from the original series that ran for seven seasons.

The new series will feature Lucas Till (X-Men: Apocalypse) as a young Angus MacGyver creates a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.

CBS Teased New Star Trek in 2017!

05.19.2016 - Earlier today CBS just teased their upcoming show in Star Trek with a logo featuring a new crew, heroes, villains, and worlds to explore. The teaser opens up when revealing what to anticipate when it goes air in 2017.

This is six months after “Star Trek Beyond” launch into the big screen. The television series has been off-air since May 13, 2005 with its last spin-off and prequel “Star Trek Enterprise” was the last series not until JJ Abrams revived it with a movie in 2009.

X-Men: Apocalypse PH Midnight Screening Announced!

05.17.2016 - The X-Men franchise is one of the longest film series pre-dating Marvel Studios’ own cinematic universe. It has produced the first X-Men trilogy followed by X-Men Origins: Wolverine then a prequel with X-Men First Class, another Wolverine film and slight rebooted the franchise with X-Men: Days Future Past.

Its one of the biggest film in the franchise as they take on one big bad mutant that they have never faced before, which is one of the reasons why you want to see this. The komiks is not limited due to the election season they are also used in other forms such as advocacy as a form of information against diseases like the one the department of health has given away in physical form and also available online.

But this recent elections there where a lot of komiks that where given away as information of what the candidates has achieved in convincing anyone to vote for them. 05.15.2016 – “Angry Birds Movie” is one of the most addicting game apps first introduced almost fiver years ago. Now its potential 3D animated feature franchise might spawn more movies than a horde of green pigs want to steal their eggs.

From a game app that was heavily downloaded to smart phones it’s not one of the popular properties that Rovio had developed. The simple narrative of the game expanded into animated film that revolves around the story of a bird named Red.

Thunderbolts #1: Power & Control!

05.13.2016 – There’s a new Thunderbolts and the team is led by Bucky Barnes AKA The Winter Soldier. Like the original concept the series is formed by a team of super villains who where brainwashed to do good, but this new series takes off from Avengers: Standoff which all them are not controlled by any entity.

It’s written by Jim Zub and with art Jon Malin, who has stylish 1990s vibe going through the pages of this latest incarnation of “Thunderbolts” which was previously composed of another team led by General Thaddeus Ross or known as the Red Hulk. But this new team goes back to the basics how they where known and this time they’re not controlled by any agency or cabal group vent on world domination.

Bucky gets to become a team leader for a group of villains who are not mind controlled or brainwash, which adds the dynamics or drama in the narrative on how Jim Zub navigate these characters on how they coexist. The roster have Atlas, Mach-X, The Fixer, Moonstone and Kobik, a reality warping energy from a cosmic cube made to manifest in the form of a 4-year-old girl rounding up the team.

05.13.2016 – “Kingdom of Fiends” it’s the latest solo art show featuring James Esguerra which is a mixed of comics inspirations on an acid trip with Beavis and Butthead having a spectacular time jamming with Death Metal music.

Expect the content for this gallery is not-so child friendly, but then again if you have an open mind and try to be a responsible adult you’ll educate the young kid’s right that these works of fiction are only suitable to have parental guidance consent.

‘Supergirl’ Renewed for Season 2, Moves to CW!

05.13.2016 – ‘Supergirl’ is a hit on CBS but outside the US it had mixed reactions to comic book fans. It’s more appealed to the non-comic book readers who knows the brand, but unfamiliar with the mythology regarding the character.

Overall the first season had garnered high ratings, but for the Asian region she’s the lone TV series by Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg that was the least favorite for a huge demographic that follow The Flash, but there’s big news for this series.

05.13.2016 – Jennifer Lawrence’s breakout film was not ‘The Hunger Games’ it started with ‘X-Men: First Class’, and there have been news that ‘X-Men Apocalypse’ will be her last go around as Mystique, the mutant shapeshifter.

05.12.2016 – The ‘Minions’ are taking a backseat right now having its recently home release of both Despicable ME films and spinoff from 2015 being a blockbuster hit. The merchandise however is still around stores but there some that are sold out.

05.11.2016 – Dream Tomica continues to expand Takara Tomy’s Tomica sub line based from licensed pop culture properties. The subline launched in 2012 with a set of vehicles ranging from the batmobile to including a Pikachu car.

In 2015 they have launched another wave of cars, which includes a vehicle version of Godzilla, Mothra which also include Lupin the 3rd and even have some more Pokemons. But there realistic cars too like from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

05.09.2016 – Boba Fett may or may not survive the Sarlacc pit in “Return of the Jeid”, but Fett Boy has enough bounty to give the Rebellion or even the Resistance a run for their money as the “Fett Boy Custom Show” was a success on opening night.

If you haven’t been in the realm of art toy scene these are not action figures you’re looking for. The Fett Boys is a figure sculpture from the same creative team known as Imagine Nation Design Studios who have produced its previous “Boys” namely TrooperBoy, Vader Boy, and C3PBoy with Spray2D2.

The Punisher #1: Silent Punishment!

05.08.2016 – The Punisher’s one-man war against crime gets a new series in the “All-New All-Different” Marvel universe with Becky Cloonan (Gotham Academy) taking over the writing reigns teaming up with Punisher artist Steve Dillon.

Like the previous Punisher series that involves mass killings of criminals in a very violent way it has become the character’s signature. This started with Garth Ennis turning up the violence that defined Frank Castle and who is “The Punisher” as the on-man army in taking all the bad guys in a gritty and creative violence.

The first issue kicks off the narrative of setting up The Punisher’s usual motive along with the DEA operatives’ investigation that overlaps with the same drug-trafficking stronghold. This latest iteration and characterization that Frank Castle is dead and the Punisher lives being the relentless machine against crime is firmly established. This also introduces a new enemy known as “The Face.”

This series starts up the usual drug cartel that’s being eyed by the DEA, and from the turn of a page you can see the build-up to the action.

X-Men: Apocalypse is Next Visually Ambitious Film!

05.08.2016 – The next X-Men film will continue the storyline that rebooted the franchise from “Days Future Past” and re-introducing the original characters from the first trilogy that has been around for the past fifteen years.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” is set to push the visual and narrative of the franchise that put Marvel’s merry mutants to the pop culture conscious in the time film industry was still trying to find out if the ‘super hero genre’ is the next best thing to cinemas ever changing trends. It’s one of the earliest super hero films not produced by Marvel, but with 20th Century Fox that got everyone paid attention.

Set a decade after the events of “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” the latest “X-Men: Apocalypse” that will open on May 18 in Philippine cinemas finds the mutants in 1983 living their own lives. Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) has his school for gifted youngsters up and running, and has some promising new students he’s guiding as they figure out their lives. Erik “Magneto” Lensherr (Michael Fassbender) is living a quiet family life in Poland, while Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) is eschewing her mutant side, worried that humanity still doesn’t completely accept them.

"Generation Z" is Not Your Average Theme Park!

05.07.2016 – There are a lot of high profile Zombie related films and there those that rarely noticed by the mainstream movie going public. Rarely if there’s one you might find it interesting if you’re ready to take down a zombie apocalypse.

Welcome to a vacation spot like no other in the horror-thriller “Generation Z,” (also known as “The ReZort”) where an unusual kind of theme park is created to entertain visitors interacting with zombies as its main attraction. But all hell breaks loose when a zombie- rights activist hacks into the park’s security system and uploads a virus which disables all security settings releasing thousands of zombies back into the wild.

Directed by Steve Barker, the director was on the lookout for something new having worked extensively in the horror genre previously. A huge fan of zombie movies, Barker, was drawn to the possibilities offered by “Generation Z’s” script: “Zombie movies are always now set in an apocalyptic world – this script fascinated me because we had won and this was something that I hadn’t seen before.

05.05.2016 – There have been countless adaptation of Pinocchio’s story since its original that was first published in 1883 by Italian writer Carlo Collodi. The story of a puppet made by a woodcarver named Geppetto in a small Italian village of Florence who dreams to become a real boy.

He has also been used as a character that is prone to telling lies and fabricating stories for various reasons. The story has been adapted in other media and Pinocchio has been called an icon of modern culture. Its one of the most re-imagined characters in the pantheon of children's literature that still continue to be relevant in the 21st century. There have been notable adaptations that are well-known in the mainstream media, but there are also versions that more like created for independent filmmakers.

One of these adaptations will be heading to Philippine cinema courtesy of CrystalSky Multimedia and SM Cinemas to tighten family ties with the launch of Family Movie Day every weekend featuring the latest award-winning modern-day “Pinocchio” that starts May 28 & 29.

Star Wars + Coolrain | Everyone Needs a Break!

05.04.2016 – Star Wars is celebrating May the Fourth which is considered “Star Wars Day” all over the world. In Singapore they already have it held during the last weekend of April, while in the Philippines the 501st Philippine Garrison was at Uniqlo trooping to promote a new line of shirts.

But in Korea the celebration was a partnership with Coolrain producing a life size Dunkeys in a Stormtrooper uniform seated on the bench unveiled yesterday.

Happy Meal 2016: Angry Birds Finally Hatched!

05.04.2016 – Ahead of its official release the McDonald’s Happy Meal for the month of May is the “Angry Birds”, which was highly speculated by collectors and fans as the next featured toy after “Adventure Time” late last month.

The latest toys featured Happy Meal won’t be in McDonald’s stores until May 11th, but they sent a surprise teaser in the form a giant orange egg that reveal five of the ten toys that will be available starting next week and Monday isn’t here yet…

Underground | Can't Tell Where Alpha Ends & Omega Begins

05.03.2016 – Juan Alcazaren is a graduate of University of the Philippines with the course of architecture. Recently he’s more known in the art scene with his solo shows in well-established art galleries both local & international.

This is his first solo art show at the Underground gallery, and not only he brings new art works, but also installations that feature his vision using plastic bricks that includes recycled material from broken glass, paper, and plastic.
