Dark Knight Rises This Halloween!

10.12.2014 – DC Comics year long celebration for Batman’s 75 Anniversary continues with the event that was being promoted at SM North Edsa’s The Block, where they featured merchandise, an interactive ride, clothing and apparel.

The event started on October 10th and will run through the 19th, where collectible figures and memorabilia featuring the cape crusader will be on exhibit. There are also individuals in costume dressed as popular characters from the Batman mythology.

Batman is 75 years younger and mall visitors and comic book fans trooped to The Block to see what’s inside the Batman exhibit. For the main program they have unveiled the “Batmobile Experience” on stage. There are also notable pieces of collectible memorabilia on display like the Hot Toys figures based from the Batman movies that included Tim Burton’s version from 1989 that has Michael Keaton as the Dark Knight and Jack Nicholson as the Joker that also include the Batmobile.

There are also the Batmobile from 1966 featuring Adman West and Burt Ward from that classic campy television show. Then there are the variations of Christian Bale as Batman and Heath Ledger as Joke in The Dark Knight as well as Scarecrow (Batman Begins), Catwoman and Bane from Dark Knight Rises, which also includes the vehicle with the exception of The Bat a larger aerial vehicle not insight that made a splash when Hot Toys unveiled it at STGCC 2012.

The activity area of The Block was decked with Batman themed display, and there are also action figures produced by DC Direct and Mattel. Newly formed local group PinoyLUG had also exhibit their LEGO sets and some of them had already made appearance in the recently concluded Collecticon last month.

This event is mostly heavily promoting the merchandise like the apparel and sneakers, which are locally produced. Besides the merchandise there also Batman themed cakes that Goldilocks is offering for those who are planning to celebrate their birthday. But there’s not much Batman toys for sale or even comic books that are on exhibit, which is the original source material that inspired the animation, toys, videogames, and movies.

Batman’s images were all over the gallery, but the lack of comic books was supplanted with large artwork from previous artists who drew Batman that also includes memorable comic book covers. The design of the main area is based from the Bat Cave, where in the middle is the interactive “Batmobile Experience.” Everyone can ride the “Batmobile Experience” for every purchase of Batman merchandise entitles you to one access.

Overall the event is solely geared in the promoting the merchandise, which there’s not much enough you’ll see. Their biggest attractions are the high-end toys and action figures on display, which owned by private collectors. Despite the lack of interest in the apparel and sneakers the event it is an immediate success.

The Dark Knight Rises for Halloween event runs from October 10-19, 2014 at The Block in SM North Edsa. For more details about the event LIKE SM North Edsa on Facebook!
