Whovians Invade Great British Festival!

03.01.2015 – The Great British Festival this year was an instant hit catering to fans and visitors at the Bonifacio High Street. The entire commercial district was all out British from food, cars, art and culture that defined the three-day event a monumental success.

If the preview of the event a few days prior to the big day was not enough to excite you the installation of famous landmarks, which includes popular television shows such as Games of Thrones and Doctor Who certainly brought more than just an attraction.

Dark Knight Rises This Halloween!

10.12.2014 – DC Comics year long celebration for Batman’s 75 Anniversary continues with the event that was being promoted at SM North Edsa’s The Block, where they featured merchandise, an interactive ride, clothing and apparel.

The event started on October 10th and will run through the 19th, where collectible figures and memorabilia featuring the cape crusader will be on exhibit. There are also individuals in costume dressed as popular characters from the Batman mythology.

Sights & Highlights: MIBF 2014 + Komikon Sunday!

09.22.2014 – The 35th Manila International Book Fair is not as heavily busy as Saturday, but it has its moments that each exhibitor who highlighted the authors, writers, artists converge in the biggest event that truly shows that Filipinos adored reading.

Komikon Inc. the organizers together with independent self publishing artists was on-hand from the doors opened the morning to the dismantling the last tarpaulin promoted the Filipino Komiks community with such vigor that it went successfully.

Sights & Highlights: MIBF 2014 + Komikon Saturday!

09.21.2014 – As the tropical storm in the Philippines rages out of the country, the 35th Manila International Book Fair pushes on its third day at the SMX in SM Small of Asia. The largest crowd converged Saturday as long lines at the ticketing moved slowly.

Friday was not a good sight as the storm known as “Mario” in the Philippines was flooding some parts of Metro Manila, which forced the exhibitors to close up shop early by 5PM in the afternoon for everyone’s safety, but Saturday is a different story to share.

Sights & Highlights: Kyoto Inferno Press Media Event!

08.07.2014 – Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno gala premiere last night was unprecedented with the support from the Japanese embassy down to the fans that came to see the lead stars and the director of the films.

It was one of the most successful and organized red carpet screenings that Warner Bros. Picture Philippines ever have accomplished that feature the stars of the movie. The big turnouts for the Rurouni Kenshin erasing the fans mixed reactions not seeing this studio bring this film locally in 2012

Sights & Highlights at Indieket 2014!

08.02.2014 – Komikon’s Indieket is mostly focused on alternative press and this is where you look at fresh new talent who are just starting as self-publisher or first time artist. Since 2012 the event has focused on those who are inspired to make it big in the ever growing industry for comics.

There are A LOT of Filipino talents they just need a place to be given that spotlight and Komikon has expanded that idea for those established publishers to give them that chance to be known. This also cultivates the unseen local comic book community.

Big Wow! ComicFest 2014: Sights & Highlights!

05.22.2014 – Big Wow! Comic Fest has established itself as one of the largest events in San Jose, California. It has attracted huge numbers of exhibitors and convention goers focusing as the artist friendly event in the west coast.

For the previous Big Wow! Comic Fest steadily grows as the crowd continues to come and support the event. The comic-centric event brings out the best talents from North America that never gets a spotlight in other conventions. Truly a great place to meet and interact with your favorite artists from all parts of the US…

Big Wow! ComicFest 2014: The Batman Museum!

05.21.2014 – Batman celebrates its 75 years and Big Wow ComicFest pays tribute to the great Dark Knight detective by putting up this year’s “The Batman Museum.” It was already announced prior to Big Wow that they intend to celebrate the event.

DC Entertainment has already announced that this is a year long celebration. If last year’s Superman Mini-Museum was not that grand check out this year’s event featuring the legendary Bill Morrison’s private collection that includes the classic Batman TV show. The event was part of Big Wow ComicFest’s activities during the past weekend.

X-Men Days of Future Past SG Coverage!

05.15.2014 – Red Dot Diva was on the scene during last night’s X-Men Days of Future Past blue carpet premiere, and the fans have been anticipating this as the biggest X-Film ever to be directed by Bryan Singer.

The event had a very long line of Singapore-based fans just like what happened during Earth Hour with promotions for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

This is the second time Singapore welcome Hollywood stars in gracing the film releases!

Vinyl on Vinyl: Rob Sanchez Viewing Room!

05.08.2014 – Sometimes talent is not born they get developed its either through self education or in an institution that teaches art. For Rob “Danger” Sanchez painting great art did not come as easy as trying to ride a bicycle.

He learned the craft through trial and error of self education. Anyone has to start somewhere and Rob also revealed that all the artists, who inspired his work, are from contemporary modern art which shows what inspired his art style.

Vinyl on Vinyl: Eight with Ren Quinio!

05.08.2014 – Ren Quinio is a graduate of Batangas State University with a degree of Fine Arts majoring in Advertising. The Batangas native had his solo show debut last night at Vinyl on Vinyl located inside The Collective.

It had an intimate vibe the gallery opened its doors to family, friends and those who saw the update on what’s next for Vinyl on Vinyl after the success of tokidoki with Simone Legno some few weeks ago that’s still being talked about.

Vader Boy Invades Secret Fresh!

05.05.2014 – Imagine Nation Studios and Secret Fresh had another successful launch last night for their second collaboration introducing Vader Boy. It was the best time to launch newest art toy during ‘May the Fourth PH’ more collectively known as Star Wars Day.

The event had a huge turn out supported by some of the well known celebrities and personalities who appreciate the local art scene. The Vader Boy art toy featured some of the best graphic artists in the urban lifestyle scene today.

Comic Odyssey + Fully Booked: FCBD 2014!

05.04.2014 – Free Comic Book Day in the Philippines is the most celebrated event by fans that grew up and getting introduced to reading comics. It’s been established by Comic Odyssey in 2007 and Fully Booked in 2008, while the rest followed.

There are four stores participated this year counting Comic Odyssey and Fully Booked as one store while the list includes Filbar’s, Druids Keep Collectibles and Planet X Comics. The biggest event no doubt is from Comic Odyssey and Fully Booked yesterday.

05.01.2014 – If you missed Summer Komikon last April 12, 2014 at the Bayanihan Center in the Unilab Complex chances are you might have seen one of the three broadcast channel coverage by either MTV, TV5 or Solar News Channel.

But if you missed all three which was shown earlier this week you might catch it online. It depends if all three broadcast channels would post them on the internet.

Hidden Fortress Launched at Secret Fresh!

04.29.2014 – Hidden Fortress is a 1958 Japanese film by Akira Kurosawa. It has become one of the iconic films that inspired many genres. Recently a local group of talented individuals was inspired to form their own ‘Hidden Fortress.’

It’s a combination of independent art, graffiti, fashion, and art toys. Hidden Fortress Manila is that group comprised of talented graphic artists, which recently opened their store at the basement parking level at the Ronac Art Center.

SM City North Edsa Launches tokidoki!

04.26.2014 – The Block Atrium was transformed into Simone Legno’s imagination where all his creation flourishes like a wonderland. This place is known as tokidoki a brand build by Italian artist Simone Legno inspired by Japanese culture.

The brand is finally unveiled yesterday to a huge audience who witness Legno stepped on stage talking to host Sanya Smith while one of his creations Adios mesmerized the guests. SM North Edsa’s The Block pulled all the stops for this launch.

Summer Komikon 2014: Launches, Releases and More!

04.13.2014 – Summer Komikon is back on its 5th year and it opens the year long celebration for Komikon the Philippine Komiks Convention. The biggest year for true comic book fans who acknowledges the local publication besides its foreign works.

This year’s guests features Arnold Arre and a limited special screening of his animation Milky Boy, Leinil Yu in his run with Marvel’s Avengers, and Macoy Tan creator of ‘Ang Maskot’ which was adapted for a live action short film.

JP Cuison Launches Buzztro & Jarvis the Albino Bat!

04.09.2014 – Buzztro and Jarvis the Albino Bat is another creation from the mind of JP Cuison who was the lead vocalist for his former band Kiko Machine, comic book artists who brought you Punnx Komiks that featured Mighty T.

This is his fifth solo show and for the first time the characters would look authentic like the real Saturday morning cartoon show. If you missed seeing his last solo show being ‘Misplaced’ this time Buzztro & Jarvis will take you into a new adventure.

Vinyl on Vinyl + Gary Baseman!

03.09.2014 – Gary Baseman is a well known contemporary artist who has built an impressive body of work in various creative fields, including illustration, fine art, toy design, and animation.

His aesthetic style combines iconic pop art images, pre- and post-war vintage motifs, cross-cultural mythology and literary and psychological archetypes.

This is Baseman’s first trip to the Philippines and his debut show at Vinyl on Vinyl.

Sight & Highlights: 300 Rise of an Empire Premiere!

03.06.2014 – 300: Rise of an Empire had a gala premiere in the US the other night, and the Philippines followed at the IMAX Theater in SM Mall of Asia. The event just like its previous screening about big films such as this gives more than a mere screening.

The event featured cosplayers in their popular costumes from the original 300 film. There are also major characters that would come as Artemisia, Themistokles, and Queen Gorgo. The event was organized by Warner Bros. Picture Studios the films distributor…
