FCBD Philippines | Do You Still Read Comics?

Free Comic Book Day has become an annual event that most comic book readers look forward to. In the Philippines, it has become an annual tradition thanks to Comic Odyssey, which first initiated this annual celebration for fans in the country, and bookstores and other comic shops followed suit.

It has become a tradition, and Free Comic Book Day; with that, Comic Odyssey localized the event dubbed “Araw ng Libreng Komiks” in Tagalog, the native language of Filipinos, as Komiks with the ‘K’ has an industry in its own right dating back to the late 1930s. It’s an appropriate “Tagalized” event.

AVCon 2019 | The Weird & Wonderful

07.09.2019 – AVCon has ruled the halls of the Adelaide Convention Centre as the event took center stage Friday night with the introduction of guests and what to expect for the three day experience. From the retro games, Cosplay, and the abundance of merchandise that filled halls this year breaks new records in attendance.

It is one of the major pop culture events that have been around the City of Adelaide that continues to get bigger with the full coverage as follows how things rolled out on what to see in this year’s event!

Iloilo Comic Con 2014: Sights & Festive Highlights!

06.01.2014 – Iloilo Comic Con returned successfully in summer 2014. The two-day event cap off an impressive line up of activities from band performances to featuring local artist on spotlight having Carlo Pagulayan, Tepai Pascual, Paulo Herras, Manix Abrera, Gio Paredes and Jon Zamar with Mel Casipit.

This event is also fully supported by the Philippine tourism, event partners, and major sponsors. It’s the liveliest event before the end of summer...

DFA Pinoy Komiks Exhibit & Lecture Series!

10.14.2013 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in collaboration of the Philippune Komiks Convention (KOMIKON) brings you “Pinoy Komiks: Transcending Cultures through Creative Fusion.”

This is co-organized by The Cultural Diplomacy Unit (CDU) of the Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations (OUIER) and the Office of the United Nations and other International Organizations (UNIO). It’s a part of the DFA to promote the local culture and possibly bring them outside the Philippines.

STGCC 2013: Marvel Promotes & Discovers Talents!

10.02.2013 – Marvel’s appearance in conventions outside North America such as the recently concluded STGCC 2013 (Singapore Toy Games and Comics Convention) shows that their popularity with their characters appearing in other forms of media is the sign of changes to the company.

Acquired by Disney in 2009 signify bigger things are coming expanding their reach not only through comic books. CB Cebulski, Senior VP of Creative & Creator Development travels to STGCC.
