11.28.2019 – Go back to simpler times of toy collecting without anything that something to do with selling or making money out of it. To a time when toy collecting was just appreciating the hobby and not offending anyone on or making the hobby as sort of a status symbol just to be prove that you belong to the elite. Twelve years ago there was also Stikfas, a toy brand of action figure kits from Banny J based in Singapore that produced colourful and customizable plastic ‘stick figures’ at around that time it was just brand new in the Philippines that slowly everyone caught up with the trend and Mach Diesel of SMU Toys shared his story…

11.15.2018 – Komikon continues to trail blaze in inspiring other organizers to support the local scene namely independent publishers and content creators in this medium. The celebrated event on its fourteenth year has been consistent with the ever evolving interest about reading Filipino Komiks. Not everyone may have general knowledge that this part of culture has been flourishing. But back in 2008 the interest of getting into local comics hasn’t fully recognize as the way it was back in the day.

Throwback: The Legend of Stormballs!

07.30.2015 – Star Wars is big since there’s a new movie ‘The Force Awakens’ that’s coming out later this year. The franchise has grown and it’s expanding beyond the outer rim with the success of Star Wars Rebels its latest animated series. Plus more stories in comic book form published by Marvel and a slew of novels that are canon things are certainly looking up. Star Wars transcends culture too which is impressive and sometimes obscure like shall we say the Stormballs? Wait? What?!

ThrowBack: Simone Legno at STGCC 2009!

04.24.2014 – SM Department Store is teaming up for ‘tokidoki in the City’ for this weekend and founder and co-owner Simone Legno will be in town for this event. For those unaware Legno is the creator of tokidoki characters. The Italian who was inspired by Japanese culture is town for the second time since his last visit in 2008. This time tokidoki takes center stage with a weekend of events culminating the launch of his global brand of art toys, apparel, and accessories that is slowly appearing in SM Department stores.

04.03.2014 – Do you remember Choudenshi Bioman? Or in English speaking countries simply translated as ‘Bioman.’ A popular sentai show imported from Japan that featured colorful heroes that call out their name and designated number. Back in the day when the show’s popularity was at all-time high there were merchandise, action figures, vehicles, play set and even costumes. There might also have shoe apparel that might be associated with this series. But have you heard about the ‘Bio Turbo’ sneakers?

Throwback: Foldabots Toy Book!

11.07.2013 – In the anticipation for the launching of Foldabots Toy Book 6, here’s a throwback that takes back how the series was introduced. JoMike Tejido who grew up learning about paper folding (Origami) introduced Foldabots in K-Zone Magazine. The first character featured was Buhawi who turns into the Philippine Eagle. Now the artwork appears that the character is a robot.

Throwback: Kiko Machine!

10.24.2013 – If you have been following Kiko Machine Komix by Manix Abrera then consider yourself a fan but for those who just started picking up the series you’ll be surprised where it all started. Originally Kiko Machine started as a band and has produced one full album with the same name. At the same time Manix Abrera came up with a comic book series that would evolve on to his own that’s heading to become the most sought after titles from Visprint.
