First Contact: The Last Best Star Trek Film?

01.02.2016 –This year marks the 50th anniversary of Star Trek and the new film “Star Trek Beyond” is the big thing fans are hoping to see. The first teaser trailer was somewhat mixed due to its content that inspired another sci-fi film.

But for those who have seen the previous films and television series they would say this is not Star Trek. There will be debates but like a Vulcan with an open mind some would just accept it as the way things has changed since JJ Abrams rebooted the franchise back in 2009. Yes this is the current Star Trek but for those who know Abrams would recall he was more of a Star Wars fan.

When you talk about Star Trek some would be too excited not about the old films and television series, but the current one and for the longest time Trekkies would silently just accept this.

Though the truth is the true Star Trek was not about phaser pistols blazing of the Enterprise getting blown up again it’s about space exploration and more about what the franchise is all about. There would be some individuals going to start an argument or a healthy discussion what is Star Trek.

Back then nobody knew this will become big… Probably the right word is humongous in record setting crowd. Now it has become what you call a competition and also an annual pilgrimage of sorts that changed the way it was in the Philippines.

Building Worlds with David Hontiveros: A feature on Philippine Daily Inquirer!

The blog has new purpose and that is to give a more pronounced presence for my award winning Uncle on social media (I'm his Social Media pimp so to speak- Social Media Manager is a better way of putting it also :p)

I mentioned on a recent post that my uncle - Author, writer and comic book writer - David Hontiveros will be featured on this Sunday's Philippine Daily Inquirer Sunday Magazine, I picked up a copy of the newspaper this morning and unfortunately the feature wasn't there. I've been informed that there was a delay in the printing and that it would be available on the November 9 edition but no need to be sad since there is already a digital copy of the article available!

Mystery Behind The Winter Soldier!

03.18.2014 – Captain America an iconic character and the first Marvel hero to appear in the comic books has a fair share of history. Steve Rogers won’t be the star spangled hero without his supporting cast and Bucky Barnes is the closest he had as a sidekick.

When Bucky perished during WWII when he tried to disarm a bomb, but failed to do so that cost his life. In the cinematic film he plunged to his death trying to help Captain America in his mission. The comic book character was dead for a long time until 2005.
