FIVE Things at Filbar's SM North Edsa!

10.31.2013 – Filbar’s at SM North Edsa has a simple blessing and cutting of the ribbon. This is their third unveiling of their store and second Filbar’s that had a new look. The first one introduced a new-look concept store last July at Festival Mall in Alabang.

Under Collecticons Inc. they opened another store which is the first ever Marvel shop known as “Kapow Universe” which can only be found in the Philippines. Then earlier today they finally have opened another Filbar’s store at SM North Edsa…

10.31.2013 – It must be a long time coming for Chris Hemsworth’s Thor to have that spotlight once again. It was a year after the Avengers “battle of New York” that has been several times in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Marvel’s consistency moves on.

For Thor: The Dark World it’s a grand epic film filled with visuals of Asgard and the other realms that gets its first screen time. Mostly it focuses now in the world Thor lives and Marvel makes the huge effort in making this world even better than the first one.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman Official Trailer!

10.30.2013 – The adventures of the genius dog and his adopted son in Mr. Peabody & Sherman seems an odd pairing of tow classic cartoon characters from the 1960s. The duo originally appeared in the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.

For years the animation has been in production and finally it makes to the big screen as their first ever theatrical debut via cg animation. It tells a story about Peabody a genius dog who adopts a boy named Sherman and of course there’s trouble…

10.30.2013 – The Holiday season is two month away but you can feel that cold weather is not far away. Perhaps the Snow Queen is using her magic to cast an early winter this November when the film is about to be released.

Frozen is the latest fairytale story from Walt Disney Studios won’t get you cold feet as it introduced more revelations and new characters you’ll love or hate. If the Fun Trivia has given you more details on how the film was made…

Man of Steel DVD & Blu-ray Sighted!

10.29.2013 – Man of Steel release for the home edition via DVD and Blu-ray has arrived in the Philippines. The Asian release edition of the blockbuster hit from DC Entertainment was sighted at local shops available at Region 3 format.

What arrived are the DVD & Blu-ray Gift Set with limited Superman and General Zod 1/16 scale figurines from DC Collectibles which are sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios.

For the high end movie enthusiasts is the 3D Limited Collector’s Edition which features a metal ‘S’ complete with stand.

10.29.2013 – X-Men Days of Future Past trailer has finally been launched online revealing what to expect next summer featuring an all-star cast from X-Men: First Class and X-Men Trilogy.

The featured trailer was first announced through Bryan Singer’s Twitter account as well as a press release that showed teaser scenes via social network photo sharing Instagram.

I was really excited when I heard that there was going to be a LEGO Movie, which is why I'm already blogging about it even if it still hits theaters next year.

10.29.2013 – They call themselves the Force Five a brand new Japanese Sentai TV show. But when you look at it these are the cast who appears on the show in the realm of Blue Bustamante a Drama-Comedy directed by Miko Livelo.

Blue Bustamante has released seven movie posters featuring the Force Five characters, which has nothing to do with George Bustamante an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) who lost his job.

But he was referred by Roger Grace to work as a suit actor for the TV show called “Force Five.”

10.29.2013 – Thor: The Dark World had a special event from October 24 to 27, 2013 where they set up the basement area of SM Megamall near Toy Kingdom into Asgard. This features the character movie posters which can be seen in the area.

Besides the posters they even have Odin’s throne room as the main stage and this also features some merchandise and toys from Hasbro. There is also a Thor statue based on actor Chris Hemsworth complete with the mystical Mjolnir hammer.

10.29.2013 – In the original Marvel comic book series Jane Foster is a medical nurse and love interest to Dr. Donald Blake the human host of Thor. Created by Stan Lee, Larry Liber and Jack Kirby who first appeared in Journey into Mystery #84 (Sept. 1962).

The character has appeared in the Marvel Universe and the last appearance was prior to the major event in Fear Itself comic book saga. For a time Foster once merged with Sif in the old Thor comic book series and portrayed by Natalie Portman in the films…

Sights & Highlights: Trese Night Gallery Launch!

10.28.2013 – Trese Night Gallery’s official unveiling is also the launch of “Trese Book of Murders” collecting all thirteen chapters of the original run. It’s the compilation of the first three volumes which was published by Visprint Inc.

The graphic novel is released in the American size comic book format with some of the pages re-drawn and printed in the highest quality.

It was held at the Crucible Gallery featuring art works by Kajo Baldisimo which is his first ever solo show.

10.28.2013 – The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug won’t be out in cinemas until in the early week of December. But the build-up to celebrate the worldwide event is underway as early as November.

If you’ve seen the sneak peek of movies posters and the latest trailer, it’s high to trek back to the world of what Tolkien imagined for his fans.

The next chapter for Bilbo Baggins adventure is going to be bigger than the previous film and definitely something to look forward to.

10.28.2013 – By now you could have seen the latest Happy Meal toys from McDonald’s in the Philippines. There’s no news (as of this report) if this will be available entirely in the Asian region.

The latest toys are from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with the figures and Strawberry Shortcake digital watches. They looked new but the TMNT figures were released in the US sometime last year along with for turtles on their zipper bikes.

10.28.2013 – 20th Century Fox Animation and Reel FX Animation Studios announced the animated comedy “The Book of Life” which also introduced the casting of the voice actors for the company. 20th Century Fox also announced the releases in theaters worldwide on October 2014.

“The Book of Life” stars Channing Tatum, Zoë Saldana, Diego Luna, Christina Applegate, Ice Cube, Kate del Castillo and Ron Perlman, produced by acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and directed by Jorge Gutierrez. Gutierrez also wrote the screenplay with Doug Langdale.

Sights & Highlights: Halloween Comic Fest 2013!

10.27.2013 – Halloween Comic Fest in the Philippines was received by parents, kids, and young adults who would dress up standing in line to get their free comic books. The events are organized by Comic Odyssey and Fully Booked.

There were reports that people stood in line as early as Friday night at 11 PM. But there was no official confirmation that there was as compared to last summer’s Free Comic Books Day. The event is more organized now that regular customers of Comic Odyssey don’t need to stand in line to get their free comic books.

10.27.2013 – NAMI is an original character developed by Toonami Asia. The origins of the character were based from a “Tell the story of NAMI” writing competition which was held this year.

The winning entry was from Zachary who is based in the Philippines. But until now all efforts by Toonami Asia to contact the winner was exhausted. The animated short premiered online via the Toonami Asia on Youtube.

10.26.2013 – The Tomorrow People looks like a new television show but turns out it was revived for the third time. The original British TV series ran from 1973 to 1979 and 1992 to 1995 had another revival.

Then in 2001 to 2007 it had audio plays Big Finish Productions. A new show was developed and it was aired on October 9, 2013 on The CW the same channel that brought you the Arrow.

10.26.2013 – Thor: The Dark World has not been shown in cinemas. But Marvel just put our Captain America: The Winter Soldier and 20th Century Fox just thrown in the monkey wrench that teased everyone about the upcoming X-Men Days Future Past.

If you have forgotten all about that film which had an ensemble cast about a mutant epic storyline of the X-Men’s past, present and future then you might be excited for this. If there six second teaser couldn’t give you more details of the film maybe you should hear out what Bryan Singer wants to say…

10.26.2013 – If you’re anticipating the upcoming screening of Thor: The Dark World to be shown in four days this might be interesting to Filbarbarians. The new store at the SM North Edsa has an exclusive promo.

This is a tie-up to the Thor sequel with SM Cinema. If you haven’t visited the shop they have an exclusive offer for you to see the film on the regular day for free. Any fan who would want to see this film should come in their Thor gear. This might also help promote the new store that opened last week.

Six Seconds: Days of Future Past!

10.25.2013 – If you have been teased with the trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier that’s set to hit the big screen in six months.

20th Century pulls out a hat trick for the Bryan Singer directed film, X-Men Days Future Past.

It’s another teaser Marvel and 20th Century Fox has dropped for you to check it out. This looks like the house of ideas has definitely rolling out another film to see for next year and its interesting how this will be played out in the big screen.

10.25.2013 – Dreamworks Animation introduce you to genius dog who adopts a boy in Peabody & Sherman which was originally based from Peabody’s Improbable History a segment in the 1950s and early 1960s animated television series.

The series appeared in the “The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show” which is another animated classic that also had a revival in the late 1990s. This time Peabody and Sherman gets reintroduced in the 21st century for the new generation as a 3D featured film.

10.24.2013 – Finally! iTunes has now launched the official trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It looks promising as ever to live up to the name based on the character which re-introduced Bucky Barnes in the modern times.

This will be entirely an action film not to miss that brings back The First Avenger starring Chris Evans. Captain America: The Winter Soldier the trailer is out now...

10.24.2013 – Thor: The Dark World is set to be shown in the Asian region in a few short days and then Marvel pulls a surprise to get excited with another film.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the next big one to see in 2014.

After the mighty avenger you get Steve Rogers back and ready to throw his shield. But there’s more aside from the revelation about the film coming out next year.

Trese Night Gallery at the Crucible!

10.23.2013 – Trese Night Gallery is the first ever exhibit and solo show for Kajo Baldisimo. The artist behind the detailed art of the successful comic book series which was co-created by Budjette Tan. The exhibit had a soft opening starting on November 22, 2013.

This event will also release the collected edition of the first three volumes of Trese divided in thirteen chapters to be launched on November 26, 2013 which is this Saturday that fall into Halloween ComicFest.

10.22.2013 – Marcushiro Nada grew up appreciating the Japanese culture which some of them where already there before he was born. But inspiration and passion for this culture runs deep for Nada to come up with some of the iconic characters from the rising sun.

Enter the Unguarded Moments his fourth solo show this time at Secret Fresh. It’s something cool and close to his childhood featuring some of the well-known Sentai and Kaiju characters that defined the Japanese Pop Culture.

10.22.2013 – Tom Hiddleston a brilliant theater actor who was cast as Loki was a smart move by Marvel which gave a huge standing ovation for being the mischievous villain that tormented the Mighty Avenger and his teammates in the 2012 block buster film.

If you missed last July’s SDCC 2013 (San Diego Comic-Con) where he had a speech with the mortals of Hall H prior to the introduction by Kevin Feige to bring in the cast of Captain America: Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy...

Blue Bustamante Teaser "Cast" Trailer!

10.21.2013 – Blue Bustamante one of the upcoming featured films in this year’s Cinema One Originals which will be shown on November 11 to 19, 2013. The film is produced by Super Combo Punch Kick productions which will be directed by Miko Livelo.

The film stars Joem Bascon, Jun Sabayton, Dimples Romana, and Jhiz Deocareza. The production team is the same people behind the independent film “Hello World” has released another teaser trailer that reveals the cast and what to expect that everyone is talking about that has become a “word of mouth” in the social media.

Power Rangers 20: Red Ranger!

10.20.2013 – The Power Rangers in the US is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the current series Megaforce going in its second season with Super Megaforce which both series based from Tensou Sentai Goseiger and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.

In line with the celebration Bandai USA has already released some action figures and Megazords based from Tensou Sentai Goseiger. The action figure line not only have Megaforce they also have Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers Red Ranger!

When i first got wind of the news that there will be a television series take on Sleepy Hollow it immediately caught my attention and interest because I really enjoyed the 1999 Tim Burton take on Washington Irving's 1820 short story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow".

98B Future Market: Polarities!

10.19.2013 – The 98B Future Market is a monthly event held at the Escolta in Metro Manila where urban lifestyle artists and garage sellers that also includes the ones who doesn’t have an actual store sell their wares.

From old vinyl records, cassette tapes and anything nostalgic can be seen in this monthly gathering of a small community pushing the rehabilitation of old Manila back to its original roots that made Escolta the original Business District in the country. It’s where old school meet the current generation talking about art and urban life.

10.19.2013 – The Mighty Avenger in Thor: The Dark World will be shown in a couple of weeks ahead from the US screen date and promotions for the upcoming sequel have Jollibee with a special promo that was released this recent Wednesday.

It’s similar to 7 Eleven’s promo when they have released the Stinger USB in time to see The Hobbit last year. Jollibee have the Mjolnir USB 1GB Flash Drive that has become the hottest collectible that’s not a Kiddie Meal. This is also a promotion in bringing Jollibee Champ’s alternate flavor in the Cheesy Bacon Mushroom Champ.

New Filbar's Shop Opens at SM North Edsa!

10.18.2013 – Filbar’s new branch had a soft opening last Wednesday. This is their second store carrying the new identity and colors under new management from Collecticons Inc.

The same group who opened Kapow! Universe last month which is the first ever Marvel store in the Philippines. The newly opened Filbar’s store is located before you can reach the Skydome and you’ll not miss which is beside Manny Pacquiao’s specialty shop. The first thing you’ll see is the Hounds Helmet from the Games of Thrones.

10.18.2013 – The Bat is a new type of Bat Plane or some people still consider the Batwing which has numerous reiterations as Batman’s flying vehicle aside from the Batcopter that has been appearing comics and animation series that came before.

In the Dark Knight Rises where The Bat was introduced to Bruce Wayne which was designed by Lucius Fox under the Applied Sciences division which has still been kept secret internally at Wayne Enterprises. It’s the latest flying vehicle that’s entirely new introduced in the last installment of the Dark Knight Trilogy.

Toy Sightings: Max Steel!

10.17.2013 – Just in time for Max Steel to make his debut on Toonami Asia earlier this month there are new action figures and role play toys coming out manufacture by Mattel and distributed by Richwell Prime in the Philippines.

The new reincarnation of Max Steel looks promising for big scale action figures but not as big as its previous predecessors that featured larger vehicles and possibly play sets. The new Max Steel reintroduced the character for the new generation. Previously featured Max Steel Cycle was just a preview of the new look for the character.

10.17.2013 – The DFA Pinoy Komiks Lecture Series featured Boboy Yozon of PICCA, Prof Emil Flores, Carljoe Javier and Budjette Tan talking about comics then and now how it will be presented outside the Philippines.

There’s a potential interest how Filipino Komiks can move forward in the 21st century and the time is now. The rebirth of Filipino Komiks through the independent movement certainly gave it a new life and interest that propelled some original creations like Trese, Dark Colony, and Elmer,and others gave a community.

Thor: The Dark World Clothing Apparel!

10.16.2013 – Thor: The Dark World is just a few weeks away from being shown in Philippine cinemas and other parts of the Asian region. The action figures have been released from Hasbro toys.

Like any upcoming movies SM Boys Teens’ Wear release their own licensed clothing apparel ranging from shirts and sweaters that are limited in design. If there is one design gets sold out they no longer re-produce it again. The new Thor: The Dark World shirts and sweaters are not the only promoting the film but also have a special promo for those who want to catch it in cinemas.

10.16.2013 – The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that’s heading for season 2 just announced some of what to expect at the recent concluded New York Comic Con.

But for those who haven’t caught up with the series on Nickelodeon better see season 1. Speaking of the first season there are memorable scenes and new characters introduced in the show. Namely some new mutated nemesis like Dogpound known as Mikey’s former idol in Christ Bradford who resembles Chuck Norris.

10.16.2013 – It’s been 75 years and the first ever superhero celebrates his milestone. The popular character created by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel who first appeared in Action Comics #1 takes flight with this DC animated short.

This particular animation was directed by Zack Snyder (Man of Steel) and Bruce Timm (Superman: The Animated Series) collaborate which was also produced by Warner Bros. Animation!

So I just got home from watching the movie premiere of Carrie at SM Megamall and I'm still gushing about it.

What can I say ? The 2013 movie really did justice to the 1976 cult classic and the 1974 Stephen King novel which it is based on.

Now I haven't seen the original 1976 movie nor have I read the book but I already had an idea what it was about - thank you Wikipedia.

Tom Hiddleston as Owen Wilson Portrays Loki!

10.15.2013 – Loki is a mischievous character portrayed by Tom Hiddleston in two Marvel films (Thor & Avengers) and going on his third reprising his role in the upcoming “Thor The Dark World.”

Hiddleston is such a talented actor pushing the character as one of the iconic roles he has portrayed in a short time. But what if he tries to portray a well-known actor into taking the role of Loki in a weird twist?

10.15.2013 – Returning to reprise his role as the God of Thunder, Australian actor Chris Hemsworth appears for a third time in Marvel’s “Thor The Dark World.” Known as Thor Odinson faces new threats and an adventure to save his world.

Hemsworth is back in his glory, looking every bit like the Mighty Avenger that audiences have come to appreciate after appearing in 2012’s record smashing super team film and in Thor which introduced the character 2011. There’s more to the stories to see in the Nine Realms and that would be explored here…

DFA Pinoy Komiks Exhibit & Lecture Series!

10.14.2013 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in collaboration of the Philippune Komiks Convention (KOMIKON) brings you “Pinoy Komiks: Transcending Cultures through Creative Fusion.”

This is co-organized by The Cultural Diplomacy Unit (CDU) of the Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations (OUIER) and the Office of the United Nations and other International Organizations (UNIO). It’s a part of the DFA to promote the local culture and possibly bring them outside the Philippines.

10.14.2013 – The iconic Chuck Taylor All-Star rubber shoes has been around since its introduction in 1917 then known as the All-Star composed of rubber sole and canvas which was an elite shoe at the time made for professional basketball league.

In modern times the sneakers has become part of the popular culture evolving to variety of colors and design. In 2011 Converse made collaboration with DC Comics to launch limited edition sneakers with variations based from the popular characters.

Halloween ComicFest 2013 Details & Guests!

10.13.2013 – The 2nd annual Halloween ComicFest is just thirteen days to go and the build-up to this year is bigger now that Comic Odyssey collaborates with Fully Booked the same team who has brought to you this year’s successful Free Comic Book Day.

Last year was an intimate event dedicated to the kids who went to Comic Odyssey’s store at the basement level of Robinsons Galleria. The event will have a Halloween costume contest but among those activities the free comic books are the main attraction that everyone will be lining up…

10.13.2013 – You can call it a fictional space drama for its inaccuracy of how spacewalking was portrayed in Gravity but you can bet that Warner Bros. and Alfonso Cuarón gave a you a panic attack just to see this film.

But breaking the box office was a different story with its sheer visual spectacle with a well written script that has George Clooney as your supporting actor then there’s something going on there that makes this film an Oscar caliber film that would be seen as nominated for next year.
